If you don't laugh, you'll cry
⚠️ SAVE THE RAVE… SOMEONE SAVE THE FU***NG GAZEBO 😂
Alright, we know Wadebridge is dangerously close to requiring a packed lunch and passport from Penzance, but occasionally something happens outside the MPB exclusion zone that’s simply too good to ignore.
And f**k me sideways, Save The Rave Cornwall has delivered. 😂
It rolled into the Royal Cornwall Showground promising:
🎧 Old Skool
🎪 Outdoor arenas
🔥 Huge production
🔊 Festival-level staging
🕺 Thousands of ravers
🎡 Fairground vibes
Basically Ibiza, but with more pasties and people called Denzil.
Unfortunately, judging by the reports and complaints appearing afterwards, the only thing they successfully took back to the 90s was event organisation before mobile phones existed.
Punters have branded it a “shambles”.
Alcohol reportedly ran out around 5:30pm.
Suppliers say they’ve been left thousands out of pocket.
DJs have complained about what they turned up to.
And one account from the event describes a gazebo being held up while the DJs were actually playing underneath it.
😂😂😂
FESTIVAL-LEVEL STAGING.
“Gary, you’re on at 6.”
“Sweet, where’s my stage?”
“See that folding table?”
“Yeah?”
“Behind that.”
“And the lighting rig?”
“Car headlights.”
“Sound engineer?”
“Dave’s got Spotify Premium.”
“And who’s holding the roof up?”
“YOU ARE IF THE WIND PICKS UP.”
😂😂😂
To be fair, the organisers have responded and say an incident involving violence and threats caused serious disruption to the day and affected their ability to operate normally.
And obviously nobody at MPB is going to make light of anyone being threatened or assaulted.
But that doesn’t magically explain every complaint being made by punters, performers and suppliers.
And here’s the bit that has absolutely finished us off…
RUNNING OUT OF C***R.
IN.
FU***NG.
CORNWALL.
You could organise a rave in the middle of Bodmin Moor with nothing but a Bluetooth speaker, two glow sticks and a generator nicked from someone’s caravan and SOMEONE would still appear with six boxes of Rattler.
Running out of c***r at a Cornish festival isn’t poor planning.
It’s treason.
And the timing couldn’t be better…
Because only DAYS beforehand, down our end of Cornwall, FrENDzy showed exactly how it’s f**king done. 😂
Proper setup.
Proper atmosphere.
Proper organisation.
People having a cracking night.
No reports of the DJ having to simultaneously perform and act as a structural support for the venue.
Nobody halfway through a set shouting:
“PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR… actually Steve, keep yours on that gazebo mate, she’s f**king going.”
😂😂😂
So Save The Rave, if you’re planning another crack at Cornwall and need a few pointers…
Give the FrENDzy lot a shout.
They might be able to offer a few useful tips.
Things like:
1. Buy enough booze.
2. Build the stage.
3. Make sure the stage remains where you built it.
4. Don’t make the DJ part of the f**king wind-bracing system.
Consultancy invoice is in the post. 😂
Fair play to the DJs, traders, staff and everyone else who seemingly tried to make the best of what they had.
But when your advertising says “huge production and festival-level staging” and people come away discussing gazebos, empty bars and suppliers counting their losses…
You haven’t Saved The Rave.
You’ve put it on life support and forgotten to pay the electricity bill.
Anyway, Wadebridge…
MPB doesn’t normally travel this far north.
We’ve got altitude sickness and Penzance is starting to feel like a distant memory.
So we’ll leave you with one question:
WHO THE F**K RUNS OUT OF C***R IN CORNWALL?! 🍺😂
