🏁 METTET SUPERBIKER 2026 – WHAT A WEEKEND! 🇧🇪🔥
Well, the build-up to Mettet was harder than the actual racing… nearly! 😂 But we got there, and we did it!
We’ve been saying for a few years that we’re due a wet Mettet, and this year we finally got one… well, sort of!
The rain arrived mostly overnight, with little splats here and there during the day, making the first couple of days rather eventful.
FRIDAY – QUALIFYING 🏁
Qualifying went pretty well. The pace was good, the SHRC Yamaha was flying, and we managed to put ourselves P5 on the grid. A good start to the weekend!
THE QUALIFYING RACE – BAMBI ON ICE! 🦌🧊
Lights out and away we went… well, actually, we didn’t! 😂
Sat there spinning off the line, struggling to find any drive. Too much torque! Now that’s a first!
Eventually got going, finding ourselves around 15th into the first corner, with a top-10 qualifying spot to fight for.
By the end of the first lap, we’d worked our way up to 6th, and the pace was there to push further forward.
But the conditions were absolutely treacherous. It was like an episode of Bambi on ice!
Chasing 5th near Chip Shop Corner, when perhaps I should’ve been content with where I was, I pushed a little too hard and lost the front.
A big slide and down we went, dropping back to 12th! 🤦♂️
Back up, head down, and off we went again.
A big send through the dirt gained us another two places, putting us back inside the top 10. A few laps later, another fallen rider gave us another position.
P9 at the flag!
At that point, enough was enough. We settled for 9th and brought it home!
SATURDAY – SPECTATOR MODE 🍻
A nice day watching the racing, supporting the rest of the team and cheering everyone on.
SUNDAY – SEMI-FINAL DAY! 🇧🇪
Sunday arrived, and we had to wait until 1pm to find out which semi-final group we’d be racing in.
Results announced… GROUP TWO!
But there was a catch. We’d been put all the way back in 36th position on the grid! 😳
With the Starbikers and Prestige riders now thrown into the mix, things had changed quite a bit. Many of these riders had qualified in dry conditions, whereas we’d been battling through the wet and slippery conditions.
Naturally, their qualifying times were quicker, pushing some riders further up the grid than perhaps their actual pace would suggest.
Maybe something worth looking at for future events? A percentage adjustment to qualifying times between wet and dry sessions might make things a little fairer for everyone.
But that’s Mettet, and we certainly had our work cut out! 😂
Lights out and WHAT A START! 🚀
An absolute flyer, slingshotting our way through the pack and straight into the top 20!
From 36th to inside the top 20!
All we needed to do now was pick off a few more riders, sit tight and get the job done.
Sounds simple enough…
But this is Mettet! 😂
First lap, heading into the infield, another rider very kindly decided I needed a little rest and helped me off the bike! 🤦♂️💥
Not exactly the assistance I was looking for!
Back up and going again, but now down in 30th position.
From there it was a proper battle. We picked up a few places, lost a few, and struggled to make the cut.
We kept pushing, but with a front puncture and a bent front brake lever, it wasn’t exactly making life any easier!
Eventually crossing the line in 28th position.
Not the result we’d come for, especially knowing the pace was there, but that’s racing.
METTET SUPERBIKER – WHERE ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN! ❤️🏁
It’s a place where dreams can be crushed in a split second, but also where those same dreams can be fought for and achieved.
One minute you’re flying, the next you’re picking yourself and your bike up off the floor wondering what just happened! 😂
But that’s what makes this event so special. The atmosphere, the racing, the people, the highs and the lows. There’s simply nothing quite like it.

Well done to every rider who made it through, everyone who gave it their best shot, and everyone who stood trackside cheering us all on. 👏
And to everyone who helped us get here, supported us, worked on the bikes and kept us going through what was a pretty challenging build-up – THANK YOU!
We’ll be back next year for what will be our 20TH APPEARANCE AT METTET SUPERBIKER! 🇧🇪🔥
The dream doesn’t stop just because the chequered flag falls.
