This is shocking. A well know high street accessory store has just 'topped up' a customers air conditioning system with a 'top up can'. As you can see from the video, the refrigerant is leaking straight out. Doing this is illegal and damaging to the environment, you must check for leaks prior to the addition of refrigerant. Please only use a qualified vehicle air conditioning technician/company.

Whilst many restrictions are lifting tomorrow, you will still see our police officers wearing face masks.

As an emergency service, we are first responders and need to keep you and ourselves safe.

Covid infection rates are rising and as you can expect, we come into contact with large numbers of people through the normal course of our policing duties.

So for now, our masks will stay on when we are indoors and when we are crewed in our vehicles with colleagues or the public.

For you, mask wearing will also continue in some indoor spaces. Please respect the rules of the places where this is a requirement. They, like us, are acting to protect you and our community.

Compressor failure is a costly repair, so when replacing it, do it properly. We remove and replace the compressor, condenser and expansion valve. (where the expansion valve can be cleaned, we will place it in an ultrasonic bath to be cleaned, then refit it). When the compressor fails, it will break down, leaving metallic particles in the oil, which in turn, contaminates the whole system. This contamination must be removed by flushing the system with an appropriate solution. We use a solvent based solution propelled by nitrogen. The solution is pushed around each remaining component in the system until no evidence of contamination is evident in the solution coming out. The pictures show quite clearly how effective flushing is. More importantly, fitting a new compressor without flushing the system first, may invalidate any warranty.

From Monday 4th January 2021, we will be returning to work. To do this, the changes we made earlier in 2020 regarding the pandemic will remain in force.
To remain in line with Government Guidelines, the workshop and the waiting area will remain closed.
There will be no repairs while you wait-all repairs will be by appointment only. Initial diagnosis or recharging of the air conditioning system will be carried out at your home or work address. This will be completed by complying with the social distancing measures set out by the government. As a guide, when we attend the location, we will message you upon arrival. The key to the vehicle can be placed either on the doorstep, or on the car. Once you have retreated to the minimum 2 metre distance, the key will be collected, and the work will commence. When the work or diagnosis has been completed, the car key and all contact surfaces will be cleaned, and then left for you to collect. Should your vehicle require repairs that necessitate the use of the workshop to complete them, we will collect and deliver the car free of charge (providing the location of the car is within a reasonable distance). After the repairs have been completed, the vehicle will be returned. The key and all contact surfaces will be cleaned. Prior to handing the key over, the vehicle interior will have an anti-bacterial treatment. This treatment does not use any chemicals or perfumes. Should you wish to drop the vehicle off, this will be permissible, and will be by appointment only. A time will be arranged for drop off and collection as to prevent any contact with other customers. Again, the cleaning of the key etc will remain the same.
Payment for all repairs can be made via card or bank transfer only-cash will not be accepted at this time. The card terminal will be cleaned before and after each transaction.
All payments are to be made in full before the car is returned.
Any appointments made by key workers will have priority over any other appointments. Please let us know that you are a key worker when you are making the appointment.
Last of all, thank you for your patience, please keep well and stay safe.

It is with a heavy heart that following the Prime Minister’s television statement, we will be closing the workshop inline with the guidelines he has given. Any vehicles that have been booked in for work will have the work completed by the end of the week. These customers will be contacted in due course, and information will be provided to how the vehicle will be handled. This is not what we wanted to do. It has taken us 15 years to form this business into one that provides our customers some of the best service in the industry. I know some of our fellow industry colleagues will feel as bad as we do. WE ARE NOT GOING AWAY. WE WILL BE BACK ASAP. So, please feel free to contact us for anything, whether it is to discuss a problem, arrange a future booking, or even for a chat. Above all, please keep yourselves and you families safe. Robin, Mandy and Gary.

Air conditioning can be used all year round. Summertime use provides us with cool air, winter use provides dehumidification. Using the air conditioning in conjunction with the vehicles heating enables the windscreen to be cleared of any excess moisture quicker, making driving safer.
It is also that time of year when you start to use the heating inside your car. Prevent expensive bills by making sure that your cooling system contains the right amount of anti freeze.
A lack of anti freeze means that at freezing temperatures, the coolant will freeze. This frozen coolant will expand, and cause the cooling system to fail.
When you start your car, the heat generated by the engine will start to melt the frozen coolant. The problem is that the coolant will not melt evenly, and can cause overheating due to poor circulation.
The picture shows a heater matrix that has been removed from a vehicle that has had insufficient anti freeze, and has caused the heater matrix to rupture.
We can supply and fit heater matrices to the majority of vehicles. please contact us for price and availability.

Its a common misconception that you can just replace a faulty compressor with a new one. You need to find out why the original one failed in the first place.
Quite often the compressor has failed internally, due to a lack of refrigerant, oil, or both. Prior to fitting a new compressor, the old one must be checked for contamination.
The first image shows a failed compressor that has been stripped down. In the image, you will see heavy deposits of metal filings, and at the base of the piston, the pad that keeps the piston on the drive plate has become somewhat squashed. This has been caused by the piston seizing in the barrel, the metal filings have come from the overheated, under lubricated components. The debris caused by this compressor failure will be carried around the air conditioning system, contaminating the oil and the other components in the system. If you just fit a new compressor, all of this debris will be carried into the new compressor, resulting in premature failure, and quite possibly the new part will be rejected under warranty.
The second image shows debris collected on a refrigerant metering device, This has all come from a failed compressor!!!!
The third image illustrates the debris that has been collected during a system flush. Using a suitable flushing agent, and oxygen free nitrogen, the flushing agent removes the debris and any oil, which is then collected in a suitable container. Several operations are carried out to make sure that all of the debris is removed. It is only when the system has been correctly flushed, that a new compressor can be fitted. It is important to know that a new receiver drier and metering device be fitted, as these components cannot be be properly cleaned. We regularly carry out air conditioning system flushing, as compressor failure is a common problem.
