Today we celebrate Big Mac who has passed his driving test and with just 2 small faults noted. Timing of this could not be better, as he only bagged this test slot yesterday, and now with his RN career progressing he moves area next week, top find Mac. This has been a great journey, Mac came to me for lessons with some experience and falling short on a previous test north of the border, so we set about fixing this. With a structured approach, regular lessons, and self reflection, today he has achieved his ambition, and the examiner commented it was an overall lovely drive. It’s a 1st Time Pass for Joe 🚘🎊👏🎈💥
Today we celebrate a camera shy Joe who has today passed his driving test at 1st attempt. Throughout your learning journey, you have made every effort to progress and harness the skills encouraged. Despite a forced break in lessons, we have met our target of test today, that in itself is an achievement. I am not going to take all credit here, I will tip my hat to Dad who gave him a good start and continued with private practise throughout. 1st Time Pass for Becky 🚘🎉👏👏👏

So today it’s congratulations to Becky who has triumphed at her driving test (despite a little detour 🤣). What a great journey, from the onset, she has been committed and determined, ability never in doubt, making her believe was the hard part. Lesson on lesson progress was evident and the challenges kept increasing, RA were a fear but these soon became a strength. Always ready for her lessons, enthusiasm was obvious, and once that test was secured, we ramped it up. With hard work, self reflection, and a couple of mocks the confidence was there. Well done, this is thoroughly deserved and you’ve waited so long, it was great seeing that result today. Enjoy the freedom and hopefully it will make your life so much easier, I’m sure Hubby will be grateful. Massive congratulations to Holly who has today passed her driving test and with an impressive clean sheet. This has been a great journey witnessing your skills develop, and today you have got your reward. Throughout you have been clinical, coupled with the commitment and dedication we are here today. This is certainly a loyal family, as this is the 3rd sibling and additionally a cousin, so for that trust I am truly grateful. Thank you to mum and dad for the extra hours outside of lessons, it has certainly played a huge part in today. Congratulations to Ty who has gained his driving license at first attempt. Throughout you have worked extremely hard, embraced guidance and reflected on your own performance, and today you got your just reward. Having witnessed the drive from the back seat, your commentary was excellent, and the examiner echoed this sentiment. 1st Time Pass for Jack and an impressive clean sheet 🚘🎉👏👏👏
So Jack fires us into 2026 with a lovely pass at 1st go, and with a clean sheet, the comment from the examiner that was an exemplary drive. Jack came to me back in Oct, part trained, so the journey has been relatively short, however, throughout this time, you have grown tremendously and acted upon the discussions we were undertaking, and this has proven evident in your skills throughout. Over the weeks you have worked hard, practised and aimed for top tier in all aspects, this you demonstrated today. Well done buddy, it has been a pleasure, you deserve and own this outcome, and I now look forward to seeing you around. I shall miss our weekly meet, but onwards and upwards. It’s a 1st time pass for Logan 🚘🎉👏
Today it’s congratulations to Logan who now has a full driving licence. Throughout your journey you have been great, challenging your thoughts and striving to get better and better. What has been nice to see, is the high standards you clearly place upon yourself and wanting to achieve perfection at every level. I have enjoyed my time with you and will miss our weekly catch up. Changes ahead 🚘

We’re making some subtle but meaningful changes to the practical driving test. 🚗

You may have seen that we have been trialling changes to the driving test at 20 driving test centres.

As part of the trial, learners drove on routes containing more high-speed, rural roads during their driving test, where location allowed. Now, we are rolling out the changes to all driving test centres in Great Britain from 24 November 2025.

As well as increasing the amount of time spent on higher-speed roads, we are:

✅ reducing the number of stops during the test from 4 to 3
✅ lowering the frequency of emergency stop exercises from 1 in 3 tests to 1 in 7
✅ adding flexibility to the independent driving segment, allowing it to run for the full duration of the test

These changes are designed to help improve road safety by better replicating the conditions motorists face in the real world. They won’t affect the skills needed to take a driving test.
