📢 HOLIDAY NOTICE 📢

Shaun’s Garage is now closed for a well-earned holiday and will reopen on Monday 22nd June. ☀️🚗

Another job completed at Shaun’s Garage! 🔧🚗

This Jaguar came in with no drive, and once the gearbox was removed it was easy to see why. The clutch and flywheel had completely given up.

A new clutch and flywheel have now been fitted, and while carrying out the repairs I also found and fixed not one, but two brake fluid leaks.

The car is now back together, driving as it should, and most importantly stopping safely too. ✅

🚗 Another one saved just in time! 🚗

This vehicle was brought in with a coolant leak. The customer had been advised over the phone that coolant appeared to be pouring out from the timing belt area and was told not to drive the car, as the water pump may have failed.

Once inspected in the workshop, I found the water pump bearing had indeed failed. This had caused the timing belt to start coming off and was responsible for the massive coolant leak.

The customer was very lucky to catch the issue when they did, as the damage could have been far more serious if it had been driven any further.

✅ New timing belt kit fitted
✅ New water pump installed
✅ Fresh antifreeze added

The car is now back on the road and running safely again.

🚗 Another fault diagnosed and repaired at Shaun’s Garage! 🚗

A customer came in with a handbrake that wasn’t working correctly. The vehicle had previously had handbrake cables fitted elsewhere, so we carried out a full inspection to find the root cause.

After checking the system, we found the handbrake lever on the driver’s side rear caliper was sticking. To rule out the cable, we removed the handbrake cable and confirmed the fault was within the caliper itself.

Because the caliper had been sticking on, the rear brake disc had overheated, which was clearly visible from the discoloration on the disc surface.

To put things right, we fitted:
✅ New driver’s side rear caliper
✅ New rear brake discs
✅ New rear brake pads

The vehicle was then retested and everything is now operating exactly as it should.

The importance of getting your brakes checked properly 🚗🔧

This customer thought their brakes were fine after looking through the wheel and seeing the outer brake pad still had life left in it. Unfortunately, what they couldn’t see was that the inner brake pad had worn down completely.

This was caused by seized caliper slider pins, which made the inner pad wear excessively. The pad had worn so badly that it moved between the brake disc and pad carrier, causing the wheel to lock up.

This could have been extremely dangerous if it had happened at motorway speeds.

Transit recovery in today with a non-start issue and no fault codes stored.

Back to basics — what does it need to start? Air and fuel.

Started with an inspection of the intake system and quickly found a heavy build-up of oil along with excessive play in the turbo spindle.

Once the turbo was removed, the problem became clear — the shaft had completely snapped between the intake and exhaust sides.

New turbo ordered and ready to get this Transit back on the road soon.
