Just a quick heads up ‼️If you ☎️ garages to compare prices, you have to understand what you are getting for the price you are being offered. If you are getting a quote for a service 🛠️ for example & one place quotes £129 & other quotes £199 you can be sure you are not getting the same service! Also be careful when asking for price matches, if a garage is willing to price match they are usually substituting quality for price (they may leave out a section of the inspection or fit lower quality parts) making it seem like they are offering you the service at the price you want but actually you are just getting less to accommodate for the price you want.

As you can see by our reviews we pride ourselves on providing a very high level of service and will not compromise or cut corners by sacrificing our quality for price, usually we find in these situations the prices quoted by others is not comparable as the checks & adjustments they carry out are usually less comprehensive, the parts quality & oil grade may also be inferior. Also in a number of situations the level of workmanship & poor attention to detail / reporting has led to the vehicle having to come to us after the service is carried out elsewhere in order to rectify issues others have caused or missed!

We appreciate every one has a budget & we may not fall within that, but usually having the level of service we offer will in fact save money 💷 in the long run.

There are 3 types of mechanic!

Type one. Tighten the new spark plugs on a service to a vehicle specific torque.

Type two. Just wind them in. Should be tight enough and fingers crossed not so tight that they snap in the head.

Type three. It’s a Subaru Impreza they are awkward to do so won’t bother.

Joe is a type one. He prides him self on doing the job properly and once only. Although he loves this car and it puts a smile on his face every time it comes in…

Where did the weekend go ?

Back to work in the morning, 1 st day of a new month and traditionally a busier week for an MOT testing bay where people come to renew their road tax and realise the MOT is due. We have a few spaces left for mot’s and 🔧services / 🛠️repairs this week.

Best advice is to book early to avoid disappointment . 🚗Also we offer a free local collection and drop off 🚙service but again advance booking is needed.

What vehicles commonly have them?

Ford fiesta /focus/eco sport 1.0 turbo

Ford transit 2.0 diesel 2016- euro6

Peugeot /Citroen /Vauxhall 1.2 petrols

Extra care is needed and replacement intervals can not be ignored.

Always use the correct oil grade and specification.

Here is one Joe done during the week. The belt breaks down over time and bits break off. This in turn blocks the oil pick up and starves the engine of oil causing catastrophic engine damage.

This one was cleaned out and had the belt replaced along with the engine oil and filter.

Had this lovely Hyundai Kona in for clutch replacement in the last week. Vehicle technology is moving fast, this has a fly by wire clutch which means the clutch is electronically actuated and required a complex diagnostic bleed out at the end. We have all the latest diagnostic equipment and luckily it went smoothly
