🚨 What would you do in this situation? 🚨
Driving down the M5, I came across a Peugeot stopped in a live lane. 😳
I pulled our van in behind it to give the driver some protection from the traffic while I went to check everything was okay... only to find the car was actually still driveable! The only problem was that it had lost its coolant.
I asked the driver to move the car off the motorway immediately. Then, just when I thought the drama was over, they decided to stop again on the slip road! 🤦♂️
By the time the legendary Sgt Owen from GCM Police turned up, everything had already been dealt with... although we did have a good laugh about the whole situation! 😂
It got me thinking...
❓ Would you know what to do if your car developed a fault on a motorway?
If your vehicle is still capable of moving, don't stop in a live lane. Get to a place of safety such as the hard shoulder (where available), an emergency area, or the next safe exit. Stopping in a live lane should only happen if the vehicle genuinely cannot be moved.
I'm seeing this happen far too often lately.
Do you think drivers who unnecessarily stop in a live motorway lane should receive penalty points, or is it simply a lack of education?
Stay safe out there, and I'd love to hear your thoughts.
