HEL Performance | Green Light Weekend

A good weekend means coming in to see that all of our CNC Machines have been behaving, as always, all weekend.

What it means is that with 18 machines making our stainless steel fittings faultlessly for the past 48 hours we should be looking at 100k + fittings being washed, dried, checked, bagged and later despatched around the world to our awesome distributors or made into our legendary brake line kits at HEL Performance HQ.

It’s the most important part to our business - it’s amazing how many brake companies simply buy fittings in and assemble them - that’s not good enough for us.

When you buy HEL Performance you buy HEL Performance. We make what we sell - it’s rarer than you think.

HEL Performance | The Devil is in the deTAIL

Our little devils tail deserves to be seen in all the right places. From Moto GP to World Superbike, from British Super Bikes to the Isle Of Man TT and on pretty much every road around the world.

The reason can be seen on closer inspection of every fitting we produce right here at HEL HQ in Devon – there aren’t many performance brake line companies around the world that can say that...

If you look at these images of cut aways of our banjo and banjo bolt you’ll see just how much of the good stuff is hidden inside.

We cut a flow ring inside our banjo fitting – most OEM banjos simply have a 10mm hole right the way through and no flow ring. Fine if they have matched the banjo with a bolt with a flow ring. If it doesn’t you wont be getting the fluid through as you should be..

So we also cut a flow ring in our banjo bolts – that way you are assured that if your application requires as OEM banjo without flow ring you will still get perfect flow through the system.

The cutaway of the banjo also shows the three grooves we cut into each and every fitting which sits inside the ferrule / crimp collar. When the collar is compressed by hydraulics to form the connection the hose is pushed into these three grooves – it offers an additional hold point and creates three PTFE o rings which means you can rotate our fittings without interfering with the integrity of the hose. It means you can make on vehicle alterations to get it sitting just right – or exactly how you would like it.

Obviously we always try and get it spot on from the factory but if you want to alter the angle then you can – safely and securely. The Devil, as the saying goes, is in the detail.

HEL Performance | Clean Lines

Many many years ago we designed a ‘mini tee’ piece which was swaged into the hose for the Honda British Super Bike Team.

From that we designed a ‘mini elbow’ so that the whole brake line kit could be mounted on a race bike, which doesn’t have the mounting points of a road bike, neatly and most importantly safely,

The bridge hose sits across the lower yoke to comply with technical requirements and the ‘h’ set up was born.

If you take a look at any other brake line manufacture you will see that they then decided this was a good idea - it is. We weren’t worried - infact we were pleased that another of our ideas had made the industry safer for all.

It makes us very proud indeed - and we are always happy to be the first to the market.

While we are able to lead and others follow, it makes us very proud, when we see competitors hoses with the mini tee and elbow on them.

Its certainly warming up over on the Isle Of Man for this years TT races. Lap speeds reflected the good conditions with Dean Harrison showing his hand early with a lap of 133.925mph on his Honda Racing UK Superbike, the quickest lap ever seen in an opening qualifying session.

Friday will see final qualifying starting at 10.30am and continuing until the roads reopen at 4.30 pm. Then its into Race Week :
