This is an open letter to all UK motorcycle shops…
Many of you now know Ben (2nd from left in the pic), our Saturday lad. Ben joined us for work experience Summer 2025 at just 15 years old, we liked him so much that we offered him a Saturday job, Ben was over the moon, a little while ago he asked if we would consider taking him on as an apprentice and we couldn’t have been happier to say yes!
But here’s the problem…
There’s a severe lack of motorcycle technician apprenticeship courses available. The course we have chosen for Ben is 180 miles away in Nottingham and it will only run if enough pupils enroll. Emtec Colleges Ltd
We really want Ben to study a proper motorcycle technician course, not a generic engineering or motor vehicle course. Many major manufacturers, including Royal Enfield, Triumph Motorcycles, KTM UK, Harley-Davidson and Ducati, agree, which is why they’ve backed this course with significant funding.
But funding alone doesn’t help if the places aren’t filled.
So this is our call to UK motorcycle dealers:
If you’re in a position to take on an apprentice this September, please consider it.
The number of young people entering the motorcycle trade is declining every year, and one of the biggest reasons is the lack of accessible, high-quality training routes.
If we don’t support the next generation now, we risk losing vital skills, knowledge, and passion from our industry altogether.
Let’s back young people.
Let’s protect our trade.
Let’s keep the motorcycle industry alive. 💙
