🚙 Not Every Slow Puncture Is Actually a Puncture...

This customer came to us convinced they had a slow puncture.

After removing the tyre and carrying out a proper inspection, we found the real culprit, corrosion on the wheel rim.

Over time, corrosion can build up where the tyre seals against the wheel, creating tiny gaps that allow air to escape. The result? A tyre that keeps losing pressure, even though there's no nail, screw or puncture to be found.

The good news is that in many cases the wheel can be cleaned, treated and resealed, restoring an airtight seal and getting you safely back on the road.

If you're regularly topping up a tyre, don't assume it's always a puncture. Sometimes the problem is hiding underneath.

Hi everyone, I’m David from GEM Tyres.

Over the years we’ve seen so many customers, especially women and new drivers come into the garage feeling unsure, worried about asking questions etc.

That’s exactly why we decided to launch our Car Confidence Workshop.

Together with Maria, we’ll be helping people understand the basics of car maintenance in a relaxed, friendly environment, from tyres and warning lights to checking oil, coolant and other simple safety checks.

You don’t need any experience at all, and there’s absolutely no pressure or silly questions.

The workshop takes place on Tuesday 16th June from 6 until 7pm here at GEM Tyres. Tickets are just £12 as an introductory offer, with free tea or coffee on arrival.
