Why are we making the effort to produce our own parts when others are available much more cheaply from various retailers?
In one word? Quality.

The following pictures show a pair of door pillars and feet purchased last year to rebuild a 50th Defender bulkhead.
Despite looking somewhere near right, the overall fit was frankly terrible (and would have ended up with the door pillars twisted out of line) whilst you can also see that the tube form the mounting bolt in one foot is considerably lower than its opposite number, and more importantly isn't even straight!!!

Parts only fit for the bin, and the bulkhead is now being rebuilt with our own in house parts.

We're also working on Defender footwells, this one to suit a bulkhead from an earlier vehicle.

The toe board on this prototype is flat, but with enough interest we could look into making them with the extra pressing as an extra cost option so they're visually correct as to the factory spec.

Our first production batch of Series Door Pillars and feet is on it's way with Ten pairs being made.

Prototype testing has proven the fit to be excellent, whilst the production items also incorporate the extra lip for the Series door seal.

Comment or message if you'd like to buy some of the first production items!!!

Along with continuing with other projects this weekend saw a Storm Tuning remap on Kieran Anders' hard working Td5 Discovery, along with a slightly Agricultural repair to the ball joint mount on the rear axle of his much modified Range Rover so he could go out trialling with North Lakes 4x4 Club.

A reasonable day off roading and a much more relaxed trip home with a lot more power and torque underfoot compared to the standard tune.

Further developments from the Orangeworks workshops.

The assembly jig is almost finished and looking good, whilst the door pillars are nearly there too; as with the feet we've made some in both mild and stainless steel.

Everything made in house to ensure a consistent quality and fit.

Following a few weeks of very little happening due to Covid19, we've seen some further developments in prototyping and getting geared up for production at Orangeworks Fabrication.

Our own design of mounting feet, along with door pillars making good progress.
Footwells have also been certified production ready, ribs will be added to the toe board on production items

Something a bit different.
An L322 Range Rover with the early BMW M57 (Td6) diesel engine.
It came to me with the owner telling of a lack of power, a rough idle and the car cutting out intermittently.
More interestingly it had been to three other garages who hadn't managed to find the root cause of the problem.
Some time spent diagnosing the problem traced the issue to a faulty fuel pressure sensor.
A new sensor fitted saw it back to running like a sewing machine, wafting along like a Range Rover should; more importantly, it made for a very happy owner.

Two posts in one day?
You bet your ass!!! Here we have a Series III bulkhead built up by OE4x4 using my top end panels, along with footwells and pillars from Classic Bulkheads.

One of my IIA bulkheads built up and installed in a vehicle. I've got to say I'm rather proud of the end result.
