Today I have emailed four secondary schools in West Lothian to hopefully go in and talk to pupils about why drivers crash cars and educate them around these factors. If anyone has contacts in any West Lothian secondary school please let me know. Thank You.

Yesterday I had the pleasure to talk about the three learning domains to ADiS and PDiS of Caledonian Driver Training. It was great to see so many turn up and learn something beyond what’s required on “ test “ I thoroughly enjoyed it, Thanks to Stewart Lochrie for asking me along
and those at Caledonian for listening and asking some great questions.

Shout out also to Mark Wright Drive Wright Scotland for his fantastic presentation it was extremely insightful and I took a lot from it.

I had the privilege of listening to Richard Auty MBE ( forensic collision expert ) at the IMTD meeting on Sunday. Richard highlighted that Human Factors are the biggest causation of Road Traffic Collisions/Crashes. It seems strange that even with all this research Human Factors is ( in my opinion ) omitted from DVSA style training and instead the training mostly focuses on “ faults “ and how to “ pass “ a test. Why is it omitted? Not necessary to pass a test ? ( ridiculous as human factors are the biggest cause of collisions and yet the motto is safe driving for life, so surely it must be taught) Time Constraints? ( ridiculous, how can time constraints
be put ahead of an issue which could prevent a road death ). It’s time to start training people around the main issues that cause road traffic collisions and focus on the person not the fault.

On Saturday 14th September I will be presenting to ADiS & PDiS on behalf of Caledonian Learner Driver Training. My presentation will be on C-A-P, The Cognitive The Affective and The Psychomotor learning domains and how if used properly in driver training this allows us as instructors to focus on the thoughts and feelings of the client and how this impacts the fault ( psychomotor ) side.

I’ll also be in Glasgow on the 21st and 22nd of October with the brilliant Lee Jowett Instructor Trainer - KIT presenting this as a workshop.
