A wee thank you from Recover a Car Edinburgh ❤️
Now that the dust has settled and we’re officially BACK ON THE ROAD, I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who’s messaged, phoned, commented, shared the posts and checked in to make sure everything was alright.
A special thank you to the people who genuinely went out their way to help. I had people offering me recovery trucks, trailers and whatever else they could do to keep me working while I got myself sorted. Some of those offers even came from people I barely know, and honestly, I won’t forget it. 👏❤️
The support — and the amount of people who’ve followed the runaway MAN saga from all over the UK and even further afield 😂 — has been unbelievable.
I’ll admit though, it’s also been a bit of an eye-opener.
There are people I’ve known for years, including some in the same line of work, who couldn’t even send a two-second message asking if everything was okay.
But I suppose when you’re in the same trade, jealousy is a bitch. 😂🤷♂️
No hard feelings though. Situations like this show you exactly who’s genuinely in your corner and who’s just standing on the sidelines watching.
Anyway, enough of the sentimental sh*te. 😂
RECOVER A CAR EDINBURGH IS BACK. 💪🚛
New truck.
Fresh start.
Same 24/7 service.
And we’re coming back bigger and better than before.
Now, since about 400 people have kindly reminded me…
“Remember to put the handbrake on this one!” 😭🤣
Believe me, I’ve heard it. 😂
I can laugh about the whole thing now, but just to clear that one up — the handbrake WAS on.
The MAN weighed around 6 tonnes empty, was parked on a steep hill and sat exactly where I left it for roughly 15 minutes before it suddenly started moving.
When I got to it after the crash, the handbrake was still applied.
If I’d genuinely f**ked up and forgotten to put the handbrake on, I’d hold my hands up and say “Yep, I’m a c**t, that one’s on me.” 😂 I could actually accept that.
What I’m struggling to accept is not knowing what failed or why it happened.
Something clearly went wrong, but until it’s properly established what happened, I don’t have that answer — and weirdly, not knowing is probably the part that annoys me the most.
So by all means keep the handbrake jokes coming, because some of them have been fu***ng brilliant. 😂😂
But rest assured, the new DAF has had the rules explained:
Handbrake on.
Wheels chocked.
No hills without adult supervision.
And absolutely NO F**KING BUILDINGS. 🧱🚫🤣
Here’s to getting back to what we’re actually meant to be doing — recovering other people’s broken vehicles instead of our own. 😂🚛
Seriously though, thank you again to everyone who offered help, checked in, shared the posts, sent messages or simply had a laugh along with me.
It genuinely means a lot. ❤️
