Lets talk Air Supension 🚙 💨

How it works
Air compressor – Pumps compressed air into the suspension system.
Air springs (airbags) – Rubber bellows filled with air support the vehicle's weight.
Height sensors – Monitor how high or low the vehicle is sitting.
ECU (control module) – Calculates how much air is needed to maintain the correct height.
Valve block – Directs air into or releases air from individual airbags

Common air suspension faults 🛑

Symptom Possible cause
Car drops overnight Leaking airbag, pipe or valve block
One corner sits low Airbag leak, valve or height sensor
Compressor runs constantly Air leak or weak compressor
Vehicle won't raise Compressor, relay, valve or pressure fault
Suspension warning light Sensor, electrical or pressure fault

This Range Rover had various warning lights and ride issuers due to a failed air bar on driver side rear and a failing compressor so both were replaced at MRT

Let’s talk clutches 🚗

A clutch connects and disconnects the engine from the gearbox, allowing you to change gears and stop without stalling.
Pedal up: The pressure plate clamps the clutch friction plate against the flywheel, transferring engine power to the gearbox.
Pedal down: The release bearing operates the pressure plate, freeing the clutch plate and disconnecting engine power from the gearbox.
Releasing the pedal slowly: The clutch gradually grips the flywheel, smoothly transferring power to the wheels.
In simple terms: The clutch allows the engine to keep running while you change gears or stop the car.

We had a little Kia in this week and what can we say the clutch plate was worn to the steel . So with this clutch it came to a stop 🛑 so MRT recovered in from the customers house and we had it repaired the same day . Quick turnaround happy customer . ̇acars

RUST & CORROSION The words we don’t like to here when our cars are involved.
But as cars begin to age some sooner than others. With the salt that is spread on our roads corrosion at some point is inevitable and we need to keep it at bay for as long as possible .
Here at MRT we offer anti corrosion prevention using various methods or which the customer may prefer.
Today we had in an immaculate 2006 Ford Street Ka. As we know this model of car is prone for corrosion but this was a clean example and corrosion is very minimal due to customer regularly getting the Lanoguard protection installed when repairs are being done. So today we installed new rear axle bushes both sides . Both front lower wishbones with tracking . Some repair to exhaust and a top up with the Lanoguard protection 👌 🚗 💨 🔧

Vehicle servicing is probably the most important thing you must do with your vehicle.

Another day another cam belt .
Coolant level was dropping over time … identified leaking waterpump so we replaced with new waterpump and full cam belt kit .
The older generation of cars a joy to work on with a lot more access and more simpler mechanics . Pleasure to do and in and out in a few hours 😃 Happy customer & Happy MRT
