The new rules to take in to account

From today, there will be more changes for learner drivers.

Only you can book or manage your car driving test. This means your driving instructor won’t be allowed to book it for you.

📢 Remember that from tomorrow (31 March), you will only be able to make 2 changes to a car driving test booking.

A change counts as:
✅ changing the date or time
✅ changing the test centre
✅ swapping your appointment with another learner who has a test booked

If you need to make more changes after you have used your 2 changes, you will need to cancel your test and book a new one.

Learning to drive is hard
No one was born with the skills you need to drive

Ella Rutherford today was doing really well and now we are on the main roads and tackling hill starts.

Silver Ford KA SJ15 at Abertillery traffic lights
Beeping the moment the lights went green didn’t help
Flashing your headlights didn’t help
Beeping again didn’t help
Neither did the hand signals
Or Tailgating us as we drove to Brynmawr didn’t help

Trying to talk my pupil through when they need to do in a calm and efficient way when that is going on behind us is often the most challenging part of my job that doesn’t need to happen!!

If you've got a test booked, or you're planning to book one soon, here are the key dates you need to know:

✅ 31 March 2026 – only 2 changes can be made to a booking
✅ 12 May 2026 – only learners are allowed to book a test and make changes
✅ 9 June 2026 – learners can move their booked test only to nearby centres

Now Briony has been able to tell all her family and friends the big news I can pass my congratulations for passing her test in Abergavenny yesterday on her first attempt with only 2 minors 💜

She’s been a pleasure to teach, it’s not always been easy and I’m sure I lost count of how many times she couldn’t do it, but I’m glad I didn’t believe her all the way until she believed in herself. And she did!!

Now I’m not crying… you’re crying!

Congratulations to Megan Goddard for passing her theory test today!

Congratulations to Jordan for passing his test in Abergavenny on his first attempt with me and only 2 driving faults!

He is the perfect example of someone who wanted perfection and in his words ‘nearly lost his head’ when he knew he made a mistake on the test, had convinced himself he had failed his test but kept calm and drove on anyway to the news.

I look forward to seeing you on the road and enjoy car shopping next weekend!
