The MOT extension has been granted to relax pressure on the garages that remain open, and allow people to make arrangements to get an MOT at an alternate garage.
This extension MUST NOT BE SEEN AS A FREE PASS.
If you are stopped and found to have a defective vehicle, you still face a fine of up to £2500 and a 3 month ban.
This will significantly impact you ongoing insurance premiums.
If you have an accident and your vehicle is in the additional 6 months grace period, you can be sure that the vehicle condition will be checked to see if that was a factor. If the vehicle condition is found to have been all or partly responsible for the accident, how do you think the Police and insurance company will respond?
Ultimately it is ALWAYS your responsibility to ensure that the vehicle you drive is safe for the road. The MOT is your way of demonstrating that you understand your responsibility. There is no excuse for not getting an MOT, there are still garages open, the additional time is for those who find themselves in isolation or in remote locations where an MOT station is harder to find.

CMC Workshop remains open for MOT testing, servicing and repairs and can collect your vehicle and return it if required.
