I hope I have now told all of my current pupils 🤞
But I know there are still ex pupils on here.

I have accepted a full-time job with Pyrotec, the company I used to work for part time, so over the coming weeks I’ll be stepping away from driving instruction, and finishing altogether on Friday 19th of June.

This honestly wasn’t an easy decision after teaching for 28 years, and being self employed for even longer.
After my cancer treatment over the last year, it has really made me think about my work life balance, and being self employed is not good for the stress levels. 😣

Thank you all for your custom — it’s been genuinely appreciated, and a sheer joy to help so many pupils over the many years.

I too get the same calls, here in Eastbourne. I had 3-4 calls/texts in the last week. 2 asked for the car 2 days prior to test. Please remember we are driving instructors not hire companies. 😖

“Driving instructors in Southeast Kent are getting more and more enquiries from people, mostly from London, who have booked their driving test down here but do not have a car to take it in.

I have had three calls asking to “hire” my car this week alone.

Our cars are our livelihood. We do not hire them out to strangers. There is too much risk. They could be damaged or not returned at all.

We only allow our own pupils, people we have trained and properly assessed, to use our cars for tests. This helps ensure that our candidates, examiners, the public and our vehicles are all kept safe.

If you book a driving test outside the area you live in, please make sure you have a reliable way to attend and take the test.

At the moment, too many people are booking test slots they will not realistically be able to use. This is taking valuable opportunities away from local candidates who are ready and able to pass.”
