📣 Competitors! 📣

I know most of you will be familiar with the procedures for both test finish and passage controls BUT we do have a few competitors who are taking part in their first targa event so here's a recap on what you need to do.

Passage control:
As you approach you'll see two pairs of cones. Stop astride the first pair of cones. That's front wheel past BUT back wheels not past the centre line of those two cones. Once you're stationary, pull forward to the second pair of cones and get your signature. (And that's how it appears on your test diagram below)

Test finish:
At the end of every test you must stop astride the first pair of cones. The test ends here and the marshal will have stopped the clock at this point. Then pull forward carefully to the marshal at the second pair of cones and get your time card filled in. You might want to make a note of your test time on your test diagrams for future reference too. (again test diagram snippet below)

The reason for these stop astride's is so that you're not approaching a marshal at high speed, it's just a safety thing. 😎 If you fail to stop, you will get a time penalty so beware!

We're setting up tomorrow at Nissan. 👍

📣 Competitors! check your inbox - FINAL INSTRUCTIONS 📣

I've just emailed out the final instructions for Sunday to the 91 email addresses that were submitted with your entries so check your inbox! (and maybe check your spam folder if you can't see it)

I've also filled my van with a load of traffic cones and other bits-and-bobs for Sunday. The weather forecast seems to be improving. 😎

📣 Competitors & marshals too!
The Wearside Targa Rally - Sunday 6th Sept 2026.

Here's your schedule for Sunday. (If all goes to plan! 😉)

As I said, please feel free to come and pick up your test diagrams as soon as you arrive (after 7.30am) - you don't need to have scrutineered to get them but you will have to sign for them.

I should hopefully have the seeded entry list done by tomorrow night but remember, I can only go off the information provided so it's last chance to update your entry! 🤔

I've nominated the one-and-only Peter Masters to be Competitor Liaison Officer again this year so if you're not happy, Peter's your man (not me) 😆

If you're happy and enjoying it come see me at the bar. 🍺

📣 Marshals - Thank you very much again for volunteering this year. If you could be on site for 8am and ready for a briefing and signing on upstairs in the Sports & Social Club that would be fantastic! - Andy Brown will be briefing you and then escorting you down to the 'Nissan Test Track'.

📣 Competitors on this year's The Wearside Targa Rally - Sunday 6th Sept 2026

Here's an example of one of your time cards for next weekend. You'll have six in total for the event. Most of you will have clipboards but I'd suggest that you have at least two clip boards ready on the day. (and pens!)

1 x A4 for your test diagrams:
BTW you can pick up your test diagrams from 7.30am on Sunday morning from Mr Colin Fish at documentation. You can get them before you've been through scrutineering so you've all got plenty of time to do what you want with them. Mark them up, write your own notes, however you want to interpret them, it's up to you.

1 x A5 for your time cards:
Remember that on the longer tests 10 and 20 you are required to stop twice on these two test and hand your time card to the waiting marshal so that he/she can sign it at the Passage Control...... so it's in your interest to make sure it's ready and easy to sign, because the longer you're stopped, the longer your time will be on that test! I can guarantee that the winning crew will have an A5 clipboard and they will have the window down when they stop and they'll probably be pointing to the box on the time card that needs signing....just staying 🤓 (That's not a Viz Top Tip)

Tune in for more snippets of info this week! 😆
