We took a few different angles of Ryan's Supra, , so you can get a proper look at the turbo blanket we supplied as well as the rest of the build. 😍

The close-ups show where the blanket fits, around the turbine housing behind the silver compressor housing. That's the side driven by hot exhaust gas, so covering it helps reduce the heat radiating out towards the rest of the engine bay.

If you're looking at heat management for your own turbo, our blanket range is here:

The turbo isn't the only hot part to think about when you're sorting out the engine bay. These fitting photos from .e92 show our turbo blanket V3 and exhaust wrap working on different sections of the setup.

The downpipe carries hot exhaust gas away from the turbo, so follow its route and check what sits beside it. Wrap helps reduce heat radiating from the sections it covers, while leaving access to sensors, joints and fixings still needs planning.

You can find our exhaust wrap for that part of the heat management job here:

We've supplied hundreds of parts for the drag Civic from , and it's been great seeing the build come together. These photos give you a closer look at our heat sleeve fitted around the braided lines, as well as the rest of the car. 🔥

The sleeve adds heat protection around the lines it covers. On a build like this, heat management means thinking about the hoses and wiring as well as the exhaust, especially where they pass close to hot components.

Here's a little fitting trick from the hose work on our AWD Civic. We covered the exposed braid with masking tape so the silicone heat sleeve could slide over it without continually catching.

The sleeve adds heat protection around the hose, but getting the size right comes first. Check the outside diameter of the hose and make sure there's enough room through the sleeve before you start feeding it on.

We've shown the process in our heat management fitting guide:

It's much easier to plan the heat management while you can still reach everything. These R32 photos from show our turbo blanket fitted as the engine and pipework were coming together.

The blanket helps reduce heat radiating from the turbine housing. Fitting it at this stage gives you a chance to check the fixings and nearby hose routes before the rest of the pipework makes access more awkward.

What difference can a pair of turbo blankets make to a 550bhp RS4? We fitted our T25 blankets to Alex's car from and checked the temperatures before and after.

The blankets cover the hot exhaust housing of each turbo to help reduce heat radiating towards the parts around them. In this test, the turbo-area surface reading went from 117.8°C to 70.0°C, and Alex's intake air temperature logs averaged about 7°C lower.

That's what we measured on this RS4 after similar hard drives. If you're checking your own heat management setup, keep the route, warm-up and measurement points consistent to make the comparison useful.

We've put the full test, fitting process and blankets used here:

These close-ups of the DC5 from show our blanket tucked behind the compressor, with the oil connection still accessible above it.

That access is worth planning before you fit a blanket. It should cover the hot turbine housing to reduce radiant heat, while leaving you room to inspect the connections and check that nearby lines stay clear. Heat management works best when the installation is easy to check as well as properly protected.

Our size guide explains what to measure before choosing a blanket:

It's always good to see our parts on a build from one of our distributors. Nico from Aeroelite, , has our T3 titanium turbo blanket fitted here to help reduce heat radiating from the hot exhaust housing.

The nearby oil lines are worth thinking about when you're planning heat management around a turbo. A blanket helps deal with heat at the housing, and checking the route and clearance of those lines is part of the job too.

A hose fitting can be much wider than the hose itself, which makes the way a heat sleeve opens worth checking before you buy.

Our gold Velcro heat sleeve wraps around an existing line, helping shield it from radiant heat without having to slide the sleeve over the fitting. Good routing still comes first: keep the line clear of hot components and moving parts, then use the sleeve where extra heat management is needed.

There's a reason for the gold on this K-swapped Civic EF from . Our reflective tape covers the intake pipe and manifold to help shield those surfaces from radiant heat.

Hot exhaust parts can radiate heat towards an intake without touching it. When you're planning the heat management, look at which surfaces face the heat source, then make sure they're suitable for the tape and properly prepared before applying it.
