Lots of fabrication work to finish this drivers side lower quarter and sill on the Crx but that’s all the rust cut out and one side all sorted now.The new inner arch lips have been sealed and painted from the inside out too so no moisture can ever effect it and all the steel work was finished in an epoxy primer

finally getting some time to check over the dreaded sills on the Crx this week and unfortunately it was totally bodged up with Fiberglass

So time to rebuild them! it’s the classic Honda area but I don’t know why someone would fiberglass a structural point!

I started by peeling away The fiberglass and cutting out all the rust.I couldn’t find any Crx rear arches but these civic ef ones fit well.so i sectioned off what I needed and i ll fabricate the rest of the lower quarter once the full sill arrives

the first job was to build the inner sill and jacking point so I reinforced it all from the inside and out.painted all the inside of the box section too So it will be sealed for its lifetime now

got the aerodeck vti on the ramp over the weekend and wanted to give it a good check over and am really happy with the shell and mechanical condition

I just found one small hole in the inner arch where the rubber grommet sits.this is the first place that usally rusts due to the water being trapped in there so I got that cut out.Once I cut the hole I get access to the inside of the sills so I always inspect that and rust proof them from the inside out.I made up a new section,painted it from behind too and even fitted the factory grommet back in there to keep it oem looking.this time I sealed it in so no water can make it’s way in

I removed all the suspension components and started the deep clean process and removal of any rust,dirt and a general degrease of the chassis.I treated any areas that started to rust with a product called jenolite I find this works well

I epoxy primed the chassis then over painted it with a stone guard protection called gravitex.once it flashed off I went over that with a satin black finish.all the individual suspension parts with be refreshed and painted before going back together.every nut and bolt greased and cleaned

Got this lovely crx dropped off at the weekend for some welding,lots of bodywork and a full respray!

These cars have got to be one of Hondas best! Lightweight design with a high revving b16 engine.. they were build so well from the factory and way ahead of their time

Can’t wait to get this one up to Standard and restored here,Stay tuned for the updates!
