🚗 An Exciting New Chapter for Bruce Johnston Driver Training 🚗
For the past 38 years, I've had the privilege of helping hundreds of people across Dunbar and East Lothian become safe, confident drivers. Many of those learners have gone on to recommend their friends, family and even their own children, and I can't thank everyone enough for the support you've shown Bruce Johnston Driver Training over the years.
Today, I'm delighted to share some exciting news…
Over the past year, my son-in-law, Garry Walker, has been working towards becoming a qualified driving instructor. He has successfully completed his Part 1 and Part 2 qualifying exams and is now preparing for Part 3, after which he'll begin teaching as a Trainee Driving Instructor under my supervision before becoming a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor.
People often ask what makes a good driving instructor. Of course, it's important to know how to teach someone to drive—but, just as importantly, you need patience, professionalism and the ability to build confidence in people.
That's why I'm so happy to support Garry on his exciting journey.
For more than 20 years, Garry has built a successful career in learning and development, coaching, leadership and training. He's helped hundreds of people of all ages develop new skills, gain confidence and achieve qualifications, and I've seen first-hand the dedication and care he puts into helping others succeed. Importantly, Garry also brings extensive experience in supporting and coaching neurodiverse learners, ensuring lessons are tailored to suit individual strengths, processing styles, and learning needs.
I genuinely believe those qualities will make him an excellent driving instructor.
As Garry begins working with pupils, I'll be mentoring him throughout his trainee license period to ensure every learner receives the same friendly, patient and professional tuition that Bruce Johnston Driver Training has become known for over the last three decades.

To help Garry build experience with a wide range of learners, he is offering his first 10 pupils:
