During the winter months, the team behind the ๐— ๐—š๐Ÿฏ ๐—ฅ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐˜† ๐—–๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฒ decided to hold plans to launch a 2026 series, instead looking at finalising details of a ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐˜„๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐˜‚๐—ฝ๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ to the already fantastic handling clubman cars which our competitors have successfully campaigned in the last two seasons.

This idea for an upgrade stems back to mid-2024, where a ๐— ๐—š๐Ÿฏ ๐—ฅ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐˜† ๐—–๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฒ car with an ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿด๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ๐—ฐ๐—ฐ ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ had its first trial run on the Greystoke Stages, proving to be around 3-seconds a mile quicker than the current 1400-spec Challenge car on that event.

By utilising another standard engine unit with the 1800cc option, not only do the costs remain very low, but the power upgrade gives the cars a very healthy and useable 150bhp. Combining this with the carโ€™s already fantastic handling and braking capabilities, will make for a very enjoyable and competitive clubman rally car.

With the same focus as previously adopted by the championship to provide a cost effective, fun rally series with fair competition and great cameraderie, it is our intention introduce a four-round mixed-surface Autumn cup in 2026 starting at the Greystoke Stages in July, before running a full season again in 2027.

A double class win for both crews at the Galloway Hills Rally!

The event was trying something different this year to make it as appealing as possible to competitors by offering competitors two different scrutineering venues, in Ayr and Dumfries, and this seemed to go down well (though I did hear there were mumblings from the driver of the Big Black Truck who could not split himself in half to be too places as once. ๐Ÿ˜‰) Well done and thanks to longtime friend of the team David Hardie Engineering Ltd for hosting the Dumfries session, making it super easy for us to just drive 100m from base to get there (and we still weren't first in the queue!)

Robbie Wood was reunited with Steven Brown for this event, which was Round 6 of the MG3 Rally Challenge and they were also hoping to pick up valuable points in the Scottish Rally Championship Junior Driver Champion title chase. Two fastest stage times on the morning loop in the Andrew Wood Motorsport MG3 saw them return to the new Service Area at Dalmellington (where it was great to see so many people!) with a slender 4-second lead over rival Rian Walker. Four seconds were lost to Rian in ss4, meaning the junior pair were tied with 2 stages to go. After a full attack in the TripleM Rally hire MG3 over ss5+6, Robbie & Steven returned back up the A713 (happily eating their Glen Urr Ice Cream and Sorbets ice cream!) to take the win in the MG3 Rally Challenge by 29-seconds, as well as maximum class points for the SRC class. ๐Ÿฅ‡ With one round left in both series (Grizedale Stages, 6th December) it really is all to play for in the Lake District!

Mark McCulloch & Michael Hendry had a fantastic day at one of their favourite events! ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜„ A solid start in stage 1 saw them grab an early lead which was a welcome surprise considering they hadnโ€™t been in the Proton Satria Evo since last monthโ€™s Grampian. Stage 2 started well but around 2 miles in the red flag/warning procedure on the onboard tracker alarmed, so we reduced to a non-competitive speed and drove out the remainder of the stage (thankfully this time it was a false alarm but none the less we all need to react to the technology if thatโ€™s what itโ€™s in place to do!) Stage 3 again went well, maybe a few scrappy corners towards the end caused some time but still holding a good pace, and now lying just 4 seconds off the overall lead at the halfway halt! After service the two Rally 2 cars infront found their pace and pulled out a small margin by the end of the day to leave Mark & Michael in a solid 3rd overall, which they headed home very happy with! ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿฅ‰ Stage times were never out of the top 3 again, just needing to find that little bit more pace to be able to challenge for the overall wins. As far as the season has gone as a whole, we have come away really pleased with our pace and being consistently the fastest non R5/Rally 2 car is all we can really hope for. Big thank you to the organisers and Marshals at the Galloway Hills Rally for a fantastic event in what must have been some pretty wet conditions at times! ๐ŸŒง๏ธโ˜”

Thank you as always to our team who pull together to keep us going on the event and get organised before hand, itโ€™s a lot of work for a small crew but this yearโ€™s results hopefully make it all worth it, and of course to all our Sponsors who help us make these events possible in the first place!๐Ÿ’™

And now for the big event! Be sure to follow McCulloch & Hendry - F2 Astra Adventure for updates on our latest project: the build of a replica F2 Vauxhall Astra GSi, which we plan to use on the Roger Albert Clark Rally in November!

A double class win for both crews at the Grampian Forest Rally!

Robbie Wood & Simon Mills headed to the Grampian Forest Rally in search of both more seat time and more points in the Scottish Rally Championship Junior Driver Champion title chase. The event began with two stages on the Friday night, and after the opening 11-miles the MG3 crew held 8.7s advantage over fellow MG3 driver Rian Walker. Saturday morning began with three more fastest class stage times before first Service, followed by three of the same over the middle loop in the Grampian classics of Drumtochty, Fetteresso and Durris to return to Service after SS8 with a 50s class lead. With the stage conditions in the double used stages deteriorating, they picked their way through SS9/10 to return to the finish with a 48s class win and with that taking vital points towards the Scottish Rally Championship Junior Driver and Class C1 titles with top points in both. ๐Ÿฅ‡ The TripleM Rally hire MG3 performed faultlessly on the day, but took a bit of a battering underneath from the hard stages, so will need an intensive check over before Round 6 of the MG3 Rally Challenge next month.

Mark McCulloch & Michael Hendry struggled for pace on the opening two stages on Friday night, finding the stages very slippy/dusty with the recent spell of dry weather. Something just wasnโ€™t clicking and back in Service the team found a badly bent and broken bottom arm which had taken a big hit from a rock in the early stages. ๐Ÿ˜” A late night was to follow with the repairs needed to continue for Day 2, but the lads got it done and then off to bed for a few hours rest. (๐Ÿ˜‡) A big shout out to David Coutts at DCM (๐Ÿคฉ) for sleeving and welding our bottom arm to allow us to continue, and everyone who offered help to find us a solution. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป Saturday was a more enjoyable day, and once a few changes were made they started to push on and set some decent stage times, more in line with where they would liked to have been from the start of the rally! By this time both David & Kirsty and Scott & Peredur were well ahead, and all Mark & Michael could do was try and keep out of trouble and secure a 3rd place finish in the SRC, and first in Class M7, which was a great result for everyoneโ€™s efforts. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿฅ‰ This event was really tough on the car, crew and team but as always we didnโ€™t want to give in easily! Thanks as always to everyone who helps and supports the team. ๐Ÿ’™

A double class win and podium finishes for both crews at last weekendโ€™s RSAC Scottish Rally! ๐Ÿพ

Robbie Wood & Simon Mills came to the RSAC Scottish Rally looking for another strong result in the MG3 Rally Challenge after securing podiums on the previous two rounds. Leading from the first stage, they continued that form throughout the day only being hampered with slight time loss in stage 3, the first run of Dalbeattie. Five fastest times from the six stages left them as the clear winners of the MG3 Rally Challenge at the end of the day. ๐Ÿฅ‡ This result has now brought them into the mix as one of the crews who can challenge for this years MG3 series, but with two rounds remaining and stiff competition the championship will no doubt go down to the final round in November. Robbie also managed to score a strong 2nd place in the Moates Offshore Junior Championship within the Scottish Rally Championship and as such has now put an entry in for next month's Grampian Rally to gain more experience having now only completed just six events in his very short rallying career!

Mark McCulloch & Michael Hendry came into the event as SRC leaders and needed a good run on an event that has proven a little unlucky for them over the last few years! ๐Ÿ˜… They managed to change this run of luck and set times in the Top 3 overall on all six stages finishing the event in 3rd overall but more importantly 2nd in the Scottish Championship points. ๐Ÿฅ‰๐Ÿฅˆ They are realistic however, and know that when dropped scores come into effect later in the season the championship lead will most likely disappear, but to win it you have to be in it and they want to cement a recent run of strong results while enjoying their rallying and trying their best to keep the chasing pack at bay! ๐Ÿ˜„

Last weekend, the newest car in the TripleM Rally hire fleet โ€“ the silver MG3 โ€“ made its rally debut, when Robbie Wood and Steven Brown tackled the Greystoke Stages, round 4 of the Autoshop.co.uk MG3 Rally Challenge. Following their win at the previous round (Speyside Stages) they were hoping for another good day out at the single-venue gravel event in Cumbria.

Unfortunately, the day did not start well, with a snapped gear linkage on an early stage (the first time this has happened to a MG3) meaning Robbie & Steven lay 48-seconds off the MG3 lead at the halfway service point. With the offending part on the Andrew Wood Motorsport backed MG3 finally fixed and all gears fully on board ๐Ÿฅณ, (and some very muddy mechanics left in Service ๐Ÿ™ˆ) Robbie and Steven hit the afternoon stages with great enthusiasm to set fastest (or joint fastest) times on all three stages to end the day in 3rd place ๐Ÿฅ‰ just 12-seconds down on the overall winners, with more valuable points for the MG3 Rally Challenge in the bag. โœ…The next event in the very competitive 1400cc series is this weekendโ€™s RSAC Scottish Rally near Dalbeattie.

๐Ÿ”น HUGE thanks to everyone involved in building the silver car in the last eight weeks; your support is always appreciated. ๐Ÿ’™

Day 2 of the Argyll Rally in the Cowal Peninsula was just as good as Day 1, with a couple of new stages this year for us all to enjoy.

We felt we really couldn't get any more from the TripleM Rally Proton Satria EVO (and we were having a good few moments which suggested that assumption was correct! ๐Ÿ˜…) The Rally2 cars of Rory & Jamie and Hugh & Dick had the pace on us during Saturday's stages, but we came away from a really enjoyable event having set Top 5 stages times on all 16 stages, and are pleased with our overall performance! ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks to Michael and the TripleM Rally Team for a great job as usual ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ, and to Andrew Wood (Andrew Wood Motorsport) for helping us make the perfect tyre choice all weekend. ๐Ÿ›ž

We now provisionally lead the Scottish Rally Championship as the series heads back on to gravel, but with some exciting plans in the pipeline for later in the year, we are yet to decide how many more SRC rounds we can complete this year. ๐Ÿ‘€ More news to come.

Weโ€™ve been trying to build up the pace and get used to tarmac again, having not competed on that surface since this event 12 months ago. It was a successful weekend for our two TripleM Rally cars at The McDonald and Munro Speyside Stages back in April, the opening round of this year's Scottish Rally Championship.

๐Ÿ”น Back in the TripleM Rally MG3 hire car for the second time, Robbie Wood and Steven Brown were keen to see how they got on in the 1400cc MG3 on gravel. Their Report Card says โ€œextremely wellโ€ โ€“ after a safe start in Cooper Park, they came out of the first gravel stage in the lead of the MG3 Rally Challenge, and after a day long battle with fellow competitors Thomas and Rian, entered the final gravel stage with a 1-second deficit, which they turned into a 9-second win after a spirited drive through SS8! This excellent performance โ€“ on what was only Robbieโ€™s 3rd ever Rally - earnt them maximum points in the MG3 Rally Challenge as well as the 'FUCHS Crews of the Day' award, and on top of that they took maximum points in Class C1, Runner-up spot in the Juniors, and the McCombie Builders Clubman Performance Award for the Scottish Rally Championship as well! Excellent job guys! ๐Ÿ†

๐Ÿ”น The delayed start to the 2025 Scottish Rally Championship season meant that this event was Mark McCulloch and Michael Hendryโ€™s first outing since their victory on the Caledonian Rally five months ago. They were happy to be back out on Michaelโ€™s home stages, and after an enjoyable day in a strong field, they brought the Proton Satria Evo home 7th overall and 2nd in class. ๐Ÿ™‚

As always, a huge thank you to everyone who helped on the weekend and got the cars ready in advance; your support is always appreciated. ๐Ÿ’™
