Now this is the sort of car I love seeing come through the workshop! 👀
A Fiat Coupé. A proper little piece of 90s motoring history, with a surprisingly impressive story behind it.
Believe it or not, this was designed by Chris Bangle, the man who later became BMW’s Head of Design. It was also built at Pininfarina’s factory in Italy, a name closely associated with some of Ferrari’s most iconic cars.
When these first came out in the 90s, they were unlike much else on the road. Just look at the shape of it! Those distinctive slashes above the wheel arches, the unusual headlights, the whole design. It was a bold car for its time.
The most powerful versions went on to produce 220bhp, which was seriously impressive back then.
Production ended in 2000, and here’s something that surprised me. According to DVLA-based figures, only around 500 Fiat Coupés were licensed for UK roads at the start of 2026!
That makes seeing one of these in the workshop even more interesting.
This is one of the things I love about working on cars. I’ve spent years working on everything from everyday runarounds to pre-war Bentleys, and I still get a real buzz when something a bit different comes through the workshop.
There’s so much history behind some of these older cars, and I love getting the chance to work on them.
