The Hagley and District Light Car Club organised its first sprint in the grounds of the hotel on 29 September 1957. Welcoming all the leading hill climb competitors of the day, the Chateau was hailed by Autocar magazine as “easily the most picturesque of this country’s sprint and hill climb venues.” Chateau Impney’s original speed events epitomised the golden era of motorsport, when amateur and pr

ofessional drivers competed alongside one another in the fastest cars of the day and across every discipline of motorsport. This impressive heritage, combined with a breathtaking setting, paved the way for motorsport’s return to Droitwich, and in 2015, the speed trials were relaunched as the Chateau Impney Hill Climb – almost 60 years since motorsport first came to the Chateau. The inaugural event was praised by competitors and spectators alike, with particular acclaim going to the new course. Double the length of the original track yet still rooted within the stunning grounds of the unique and historic Chateau Impney, the MSA-approved Hill Climb course proved challenging for even the most experienced competitors. Almost 10,000 people attended the 2015 event, and thanks to its great success, the Chateau Impney Hill Climb will return each year. The Hill Climb is fast becoming one of the highlights of the Midlands motorsport calendar – so grab your ticket to the action!

'Moving on to Chateau Impney’s next chapter'

The 2019 Chateau Impney Hill Climb will be the last of this series of motoring events at Chateau Impney. Consequently, the 2020 event will not be taking place.

Hosting the Hill Climb has been an amazing 5 years. We set out: to create memorable experiences which consistently exceeded expectations, to create an event that felt exclusive but was incredibly inclusive and to deliver an event worthy of a recognisable award.

We have achieved all of the above and it is now time for us to bow out in style and focus on the exciting next chapter for Chateau Impney. We would like to thank all the partners, team and guest for their support over the years, as we couldn’t have done it without you, and we look forward to involving you in our future.
