Clay Pigeon Kart Club

One of the leading kart clubs in the country, celebrating over 50 years of racing.

The Clay Pigeon Raceway was founded in the late 1950's early 1960's on a disused Second World War Military Hospital site. The original track was built by joining the hut (ward) concrete bases together with tarmac to make a 500 metre track. The Blandford Karting Club was formed and a Roval Automobile Club Permit was obtained and the first "official" race took place on Sunday 5th May 1963. Shortly a

fter this first race meeting the Bath Karting Club assumed the responsibility of organising RACMSA race meetings. In the early 1970's the Clay Pigeon Kart Club was formed and has continued to organise and promote MSA race meetings at Clay, leasing the circuit for 14 days a year from a long list of owners of the circuit. Neil Hann was chairman in the early years and he and his volunteers extended the circuit to the 815 metres that it is today. In the mid 1980's Ian Rennison joined the committee of the Clay Pigeon Kart Club and together with Neil Hann, Trevor Brown, John Donovan, Colin Clark (and later Ron Davies) were responsible for saving the circuit in 1989 when the owners Lane Racing Ltd went into liquidation. They formed Chelborough Ltd, who purchased the freehold of the circuit to maintain MSA racing in this area. The circuit was in a poor state and once the trade tenants of the circuit were removed in 1994 improvements to the circuit were started - new fencing, track widened and totally resurfaced, tarmac pit areas etc. The club erected a new clubhouse followed by a new lap scorers hut and new scrutineering facilities. The circuit has now become a seven days a week business organising arrive and drive hire karts, Corporate events, practice and hosting most major championships that tour Britain. Recently Chelborough Ltd (the Circuit owners) has come under control of Southern Counties Leisure who now own all the leisure facilities around the circuit including the new 39 room George Albert Hotel and new improvements to the circuit and it facilities are on the way including a new purpose built Clubhouse and corporate area. The future is bright for the Clay Pigeon Kart Circuit and Clay Pigeon Kart Club.

🟥⬜ 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗦 𝗔𝗙𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗 𝟱 ⬜🟥
With Round 6 next for the championship on the 12th July, we best check up on how the championships have shifted in our classes.

𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘁
Callum Gaine holds his lead in the championship with 494 points. Meanwhile more changes below as Elliott Dowling moves to 2nd, Rio Fry (who has now moved to Intermax) falls to 3rd. Francesca Cridge moves up to 4th after her successful win in Round 5. Zach Service falls to 5th.

𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘅 𝗖𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘁
Alexander Radoicovici retains his lead with 466 points. Jackson Haines and Alfie Mullett move up to 2nd and 3rd respectively. Jonny Butterfill falls to 4th.

𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘅
Ben Hunt also retains his lead in the Intermax Championship with 679 points. Nikita Roberts moving up to 2nd along with Ethan Mcnally-Roberts to 3rd. Thomas Roscorla and Harrison Randall move down to 4th and 5th respectively. Roman Takata holds 6th with 466 points as Jan Hamera and Kiaan Kholsa move up into the top 8.

𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘅
So far the cadets and Intermax leaders of the championship have all held their lead. It is also the same story for Junior Rotax as Kirk Caplen retains his lead with 616 points but closely behind is Sammy Churchill with 602! Pip Palmer moves up to 3rd with 573 points overtaking Alfred Matthews on 567 down to 4th. Luke McGall also moves up a position in the championship, now moving to 5th ahead of Matthew Whitmarsh. Elliot Bennett and Toby Hembrough stay in 7th and 8th.

𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘅
For the seniors the top 5 remain in their positions with Luke Richards holding 1st with 672 points. Bertie Wellesley 2nd with Archie Dyson 3rd. Billy Edgecombe 4th with 545 points and Henry Moore 487 in 5th. Lucas Reeves moves up to 6th with 487 points overtaking Izzie Laughton who has moved down to 7th. There are only 5 points between those two drivers. Herbie Wiggins rounds out the top 8.
