Looking Back, Moving Forward: Thank You for a Safe 2025!

As we steer toward the end of 2025, the teams at DriveCommander and Driven2Distraction want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey this year.

To our clients, partners, and the road safety community: thank you for your business, your invaluable information, and your dedication to making our roads a safer place for everyone.

This year, we’ve worked hard together to tackle one of the biggest risks on our roads—distracted driving. Whether through our fleet technology or our educational campaigns, your support has helped us champion the message that no text, call, or notification is worth a life.

What’s Ahead for 2026?
We’re more committed than ever to eliminating "mindless moments" behind the wheel. In 2026, we look forward to:

Expanding our partnerships to protect more fleet drivers.

Innovative road safety initiatives through our CIC work.

Continuing the conversation to ensure every journey ends safely.

Thank you for helping us drive change. We wish you all a safe, happy, and focused New Year!

Eyes on the road, mind on the drive.

This was a bit of a worrying report we came across, from a recent Direct Line survey regarding UK drivers 'quirks'.

https://www.directlinegroup.co.uk/en/news/brand-news/2025/11112025.html

It may come across as lighthearted, emphasising the peculiarities of driving habits, but is it more than a little disconcerting that so many drivers will actively avoid or refuse to carry out routine tasks and manoeuvres at the wheel. Does it make them more distracted because they are constantly looking out for the thing they want to avoid or more focused for the exact same reason!

Driving in the dark can be in issue for motorists with certain vision issues, but many of the other things on this list is a bit baffling.

As usual, we'd love to know what you think in the comments!

This is what we're facing more and more every day as motorists.

It's easy to start raging and frothing at the mouth about this sort of thing, but we need to take a deeper look at the mentality and awareness of the people doing it. There are endless social media videos of ebike riders menacing town centre streets, but almost always the bigger threat is from the passive users who don't see what they are doing as dangerous.

We've all been walking on pavements when an e-scooter ride has whizzed silently past and we've probably all been quick to judge. Take the time to look at the person riding though and in many cases it will be a smartly dressed professional with no safety gear and little awareness of the danger they are to themselves and pedestrians.

Solutions are easy to talk about but hard to implement. Is banning this kind of transport the answer? Stricter laws? Maybe much more clearly defined laws would be a start.

As usual, let us know what you think in the comments!

Are Graduated Driving Licenses the answer to combating many incidents and fatalities involving young people on our roads? It's a contentious and emotive subject and one that needs a lot of input of all the variables, but it could make a big difference.

Interested to hear peoples thoughts on this!

A campaign aims to reduce the number of fatal road traffic collisions among 17-24 year olds.

We can provide technology solutions, run awareness campaigns and the penalties are there for all to see, so why are people still doing? Why do some drivers think that they need to be 'entertained' while driving to the point they actively participate in diversionary activities?

We need a shift change in the way we think.

There are some sweeping changes to the laws for older drivers this month, which may or may not be good news, depending on your age!

https://stcnorthgolf.com/uk-driving-law-changes-october-2025/

The intent is to make our roads safer for all and while some of the changes are welcome, we'd argue that new rules for younger drivers should also be tightened up. The idea of Graduated Driving Licenses have been kicked around for years - is it time to really start taking the proposals seriously?

Poor driving and distractions can apply to anyone, young and old. It's not about targeting age groups or victimising certain drivers, it's about safety and reducing incident and accident statistics.

We aren't singling out BMW here, as just about every new car available has some sort of screen, but for any company professing to be safety conscious, how can it be justified to say they are committed to reducing road incidents and accidents and at the same time putting a 20 inch monitor straight in the drivers eyeline and even obscuring part of the windscreen.

Car manufacturers need to do better.
