Wetbelt and DPF issues solved!

05/06/2026

We have a new contender for rustiest end plate 🥵.

Also does anyone have a contact for the power steering pipes on eBay for these?

The 2.0 EcoBlue pipes? can only find the 2.2 ones on eBay. It’s a mate and for are saying over £300 😅. It’s a 2017 van with 130k on the clock so he’s wanting to keep costs down!

This engine is done!

Turbo and gonna guess vac pump also (oil starvation).

Never seen an oil pump belt go before, nor have I seen a belt creep off and move forward and strip half the teeth all way around?!

Any ideas?

Idler bolt in place, tensioner ok maybe cams have Sid to side float? But no marks on casing!

Anyone else seen this?

So apparently this belt was done in Nov 2025 approx 4k miles ago…

This is not my trade, I’m a Gas Safe Engineer that was buying and selling vans and couldn’t find a decent mechanic as all the good ones were busy and the s**t ones utterly incompetent.

Let’s get into this and see what we find?

Competence isn’t qualifications, it’s hard work and dedication and learning on the job.

Have i made mistakes? Yes a few that have had to learn from. The best way in my opinion and now I know these vans inside out!

Be careful who you’re letting work on these vans and be really careful as to the process they follow!

If they’re not having the sump off because the main belt is fine, what about the oil pump belt? 🤠’s everywhere! Don’t be the horse of the story!!!

This is a first for me personally… frayed oil pump belt!!!

I keep seeing posts from some of the wet belt 🤠’s saying no need to remove the sump as the belt wasn’t delaminated….

Well the oil pump belt is just as important and just as much of a liability!!

Always get the job done properly or just don’t bother, use reputable companies and remember if you’re putting your own oil in after it just ain’t right!

You don’t go out for lunch and cook your own food!!!

On this weeks edition of Andy hates turbo’s!

Collected the vehicle from the customers home and moved things around to get them in so he can get to the Isle of Man TT.

Just running up to blow any excess oil from the intercooler and exhaust and need to add I’ve also checked the DPF pressure to make sure the New turbo can breathe!

Lovely Sunny day for doing a head on a 2.0 EcoBlue 🥰🥵

A little help from Tommy Tipex and Baz the Bastard Bar but the extra 90 deg turns are made a lot easier!

Top Tip for your weekend!

Always Blow Your Holes!!

So the head is off and shows clear signs of bad seats.

The new owner has got in touch to say but a turbo on. There’s no fitting fees while it’s off and while the other has no movement it is showing wear with the oil seals so cheaper to fix now 🙂

We’ve potentially found the cause of the pitted valve seats….

A leaky turbo.

What we’ve found is there always seems to be an issue with the fuelling or exhaust that contributes…

What’s other mechanics thoughts?

Also two stuck injectors requiring the Laser 8288 removal kit!!
