Hi there to all who have followed me.
It's now 365 days since I was smashed off my motorbike by the negligence of a removal company, 67 of those days were spent in intensive care at Salford Royal. I had 8 fractured vertebrae and after surgery I was paralysed from the neck down. I was lucky to be transferred to the North West Spinal Injury Center in Southport where I spent the next 120 days. There I learned how to stand and walk, not very well or very far, how to put on a tee shirt and joggers, how to brush my teeth and how to shave.
My whole daytime there was spent in a electric wheelchair, I have not used a wheelchair since I came home at the start of July only a 4 wheel walker.
I have limited movement to my arms and I can't feel my hands and my hands can't feel.
I have other life changing disabilities that I have to live with and will be with me for ever.
If I was on my own I don't think I could have coped with the mental strain and the physical stress of rehabilitation. The very fact I am still here and still me is down to the LOVE, KINDNESS and CARE of my partner for 30 years Samantha Parkin.
My son Jake looks out for me during the day and twice a week 2 friends, Robert Diamond and Paul Booker take me to my workshop to work on Triumph Stag engines.
So there we are, I've been home for 6 months now and have got my routine in place, I am lucky and happy to be around my family and friends now but would also like to thank all those who visited me at Southport especially Nick Warren of the SOC for taking me to the pub and Lisa Don Francesco for being a true friend.
Merry Christmas to you all and have a Happy New Year.
