Sadly, we’ve reached the end of the road...
What started as an informal gathering in the Summer of 2022 with support from the Abingdon Works Centre, part of the MG Car Club, soon grew into a regular and well-regarded classic car meet supported by hundreds of classic car owners from as far afield as the South Coast, West Country and London. We even had cars attending from overseas as word spread and visitors detoured to join us. Pre-war vintage cars, modern supercars, trucks, tractors and tankers were just some of the vehicles on show. Over the years we've welcomed an armoured gun, a working fire appliance and several police vehicles, its been a varied bunch! Everybody’s enthusiasm for the meets, their encouraging feedback and efforts to come along, in good weather and bad, is very much appreciated.
I began organising these meets while working at Harwell and since moving on, getting the necessary approvals to continue has been less straightforward. With my own plans to move away from the area and knowing Harwell’s development plans I have been working in the background to find a new home for our meet. Unfortunately, I was not able to secure the new venue ahead of my move and continuing to run the event from Cumbria is a stretch too far! And so, I am sorry to say the Harwell Campus Classic Car Meet is now a non-runner and has been garaged permanently.
Thank you all once again for your support. Keep the paintwork shining, keep the chrome buffed and keep your revs up! Happy motoring.
