ES Rowing is well known for its expertise in repairing composite boats but the skills of our talented team do not end there. We have many years' experience in wooden boat repairs - and one of our staff members was part of the original Eton Racing Boats wooden boat manufacturing team.

In recent years, owners of wooden boats have found it difficult to find a trusted craftsman to repair and revarnish their wooden boats, and have come to us. As a result, ES Rowing has been repairing and respraying wooden boats from manufacturers such as Carl Douglas and Empacher for many years now.

The photos below show an ebony Carl Douglas racing boat that was brought to us with the varnish lifting away from the shell. We removed all the varnish and prepared the hull, which was then sprayed with high-quality marine varnish in our pressurised spray booth. As you can see, the results were amazing.

We have carried out similar repair and refurbishment work to Empacher racing boats and also to a number of slipper launches, one of which won the Traditional Boat Rally a couple of years ago after an ES Rowing refurbishment.

Here we are in beautiful Lake Bled for the World Masters Regatta where Kanghua is an official boat provider. It is great to see so many familiar faces here, and especially to see so many athletes - UK-based and international - coming back to Kanghua for their boat hire after a positive experience last year in Banyoles.

Come and visit us at the Kanghua stand - we're next to Concept 2 at the top of the hill.

We have had two days to enjoy the scenery but racing started today so we're expecting to have to work a bit harder, with back-to-back rentals all day. Just hoping the storms forecast for later are not quite as dramatic as they sound!

Wishing the very best of luck to everyone competing at WRMR Bled this week - and we're looking forward to lots of wins in Kanghua boats!

Here at ES Rowing Services we are not just about rowing. We get asked to make all kinds of specialist parts from composite materials - from props for film sets to luge components.
Recently, a TVR owner approached us to see if we would manufacture an airbox and air scoop from pre-impregnated carbon fabric. He provided two templates which we reworked to create the perfect moulds.
One of the parts required us to create a five piece mould that was then bolted together to enable us to manufacture a one-piece component.
All the moulds were made using a high-temperature resin system so that we could manufacture the parts from pre-impregnated carbon fabric, known for its toughness and ability to absorb heat.
You can see the results in the photos below - and we're happy to say that the customer was delighted!
