It’s been a while since I last did a set of headlights. Considering the age of the car, these Audi TT ones were in pretty bad shape! The car had failed an MOT due to this, but in less than a few hours we had them looking like new 🙂

4 months into the year and I’ve already broken my promise to keep the fortnightly content coming! My sincerest apologies 🙈 However, I think you’ll agree that this custom number plate plinth, as well as front bumper smoothing, looks the 🐝 knees! That’s the last job of the week, before taking a long awaited holiday! In for repair today was this Range Rover Sport seat that had been used as a dogs chew toy 🐶 Seats for these can be quite hard to come by and usually mean buying a whole interior. I don’t typically take jobs like this on, as I’m far from an upholsterer, but the customer was happy for me to give it a whirl and I can honestly say, I’m quite pleased with the results 🙂

Hole’y smokes! This BMW 3 series apparently had an argument with a tow bar and I think we can all agree, probably came off worse! All in a days work for The Automotive Handyman! 🤓💪🏼

There isn’t much that can’t be repaired 💪🏼 This BMW 530d took quite a bump! Fortunately with the help of a few plastic staples, a soldering iron and a light skim of filler (oh, and a little bit of talent!), this future classic in ‘individual scarab green’, was given a new lease of life!

This Range Rover Sport came in for a minor, but deep gouge to the front bumper corner. Thankfully, no filler was needed and the damage was able to be feathered out and blended in, within a localised area. Get in touch for quotes guys!

One of my New Years resolutions is to post more content on my business page.. It’s only been (almost) 2 years! The problem I was having, was forgetting to take plenty of pictures, finding the time to write status’ and also becoming inundated with work every time I put up a post.. I really shouldn’t complain about that last one! Going forward in 2023, expect a post at least once a fortnight 🤞🏼 Let’s start this off with a Mercedes SL 400 that came in just before Christmas. The bare aluminium finish had seen better days and the customer requested them to be painted in Ferrari Giallio Modena.. Aka, Ferrari yellow! Finished off with black AMG decals and silver hubs. Definitely to my taste 👌🏼

I often try to steer clear of painting doors. Especially metallic red! The challenges faced are much greater and the chances of noticing the repair are higher, considering the circumstances of a smart repairer. However, this customer came to me wanting the door painted on her Dacia Sandero, after a poor previous repair caused paint to flake off whilst being washed. Once I’d managed the clients expectations and had been told, “anything will be better than a piece of paint missing!”, I went ahead with repainting the door. Despite being an edge to edge job, I think the colour match actually came out pretty well and the finish was 👌🏼🙂

A change from painting.. The headlights on this 2004 Mercedes E320 had certainly seen better days! It’s very common on a car of this age for the UV coating on the headlights to fail and turn yellow. The oxidisation was removed using 320 grit sand paper, moving up through the grades until finally finishing with 3000 grit and then polishing. When I next get chance, I’d like to shoot a tutorial on this process. The transformation was satisfying to say the least!

What a windy week it’s been! 💨 It has created a few challenges (what with repairing outside), but nevertheless quality has remained priority. Definitely the worst/most rewarding job this week was carried out on this 2018 Toyota Rav 4. The customer had apparently reversed into a skip, causing various brackets to break, aswell as a dent to the plastic bumper and the rear quarter. Fortunately with a small amount of body filler and a few hot staples, the car was returned to its former glory within just a few hours 😉
