Trainee travels all the way from Geneva! 🇨🇭✈️

What an absolute pleasure it’s been meeting and training Owen Morris A huge thank you to him for making the journey over from Geneva, where he runs his business providing airport transfers to ski resorts in Morzine with his fleet of minibuses, as well as managing a beautiful 7-bedroom chalet.

We put together a bespoke bumper and paint course for him, including an introduction to panel work—perfect for keeping his vans in top condition when they pick up the occasional knock.

It’s been long days packed with content and detail, but it really shows in the results. I’m genuinely impressed with the quality of work Owen has achieved in such a short time.

We even managed to squeeze in a well-earned break on Thursday evening with a beer and a great meal at the local Thai restaurant—lovely way to wrap up the day! 🍻

Congratulations, Owen! Wishing you all the very best going forward. Hopefully one day I’ll make the trip over and we can share a beer or two on your side of the mountains.

Hi everyone,

I’d like to introduce Devon

We’ve just finished a fantastic short Alloy Wheel Course tailored especially for her — and what a result!

Devon is the owner of HCL Car Sales in Chertsey and comes from a background in Art & Textiles, which really showed in her attention to detail and creative flair.

Over the course, we worked on a mixture of car and motorcycle wheels, pushing finishes and techniques — and the results were truly amazing.

But we didn’t stop there…
We also developed a brand-new business plan, trading name, and logo ready for her next chapter 🚀

Her enthusiasm, positivity, and constant laughter made the whole course a pleasure to deliver. Absolute credit to herself.

Hey Mr D,

How you doing? I hope you and your girls are fighting fit and doing well.

I just thought I'd reach out as its the first year anniversary of my business going live and I wanted to credit you for helping me achieve the success Ive had thus far.

Ive continued to build on your teachings and invest in my equipment. I had my van sign written, purchased custom gazebos and just had a new professional website built which launched last week.

My 16 year old passed his GSCE's this year and started college last month doing bodywork and paint and will be joining the business in a few years when qualified.

I've got 5 Star Reviews across Google and Social media platforms and have built a decent network over the last twelve months. Although I am constantly learning, I'm holding my own and my reviews are making my services somewhat sought after. I assess every job in person before taking on or quoting a job.. For two reason, the first to get a proper look at the damage as pics only show a partial snip and rarely the full extent. Secondly, I am deciding if they are decent people deserving of what I have to offer. If I feel they are.. Then I fully engage my personality/professionalism and 9 times out 10 I win the job regardless of price. It's a tactic which has served me very well so far.

Anyways you know I like to ramble on so I'll end it here.

Thanks again Martin for your education, patience and training programme. It gave me the best possible foundation from which to build.

The Story Behind Wheels of Warwick...Ben Nesbit 😃

After years of working in the printing industry as a commercial printing engineer I came to inherit a small amount of money to which I decided I'd try my hand at paint spraying in the hope of it becoming my full time job after noticing a decline with work in the printing industry.
I came across Martin's wheel and bodywork repair training course on Facebook and thought it looked perfect , so in January 2019 I made the trip to Deal, Kent and started training.
Unfortunately due to an accident I had a few years prior it meant I couldn't kneel down for long periods of time so the decision was made to just do the wheel repair course instead .
The course went very well and I learned a lot in a short amount of time .
Once I returned from the training I started looking into planning out the business strategy.
First came the name, Since I lived in Warwick it made sense to include it the company name but wasn't sold on Warwick Wheels , I wanted something that had a catchy abbreviation so I came up with Wheels of Warwick (W.O.W)
Id had a good knowledge of I.T so started designing the website,page, Instagram, Google business page and got the new business name out into the world.
I ordered the starter kit from Martins recommend supplier which included compressor ,spray guns etc and then purchased a long wheelbase, high roof transit custom and went to see Dave at Greenair to find a spray booth and work bench that would fit my van . The van was then kitted out with all necessary equipment and started taking calls and messages for wheel repairs .
To start with I just did 1 set a week till more and more enquiries came in and I made the decision to leave my current employment and do the wheels full time.
The first few months were hard work with quite a few mistakes but keen to make this my career long term, after years of hard graft Ive persevered and so glad I did.
I've since managed to get a mortgage and now have a good work/life balance.
I'm now fully booked for months in advance with new enquires coming in daily.

What a week ! 😃🚀🎨
I’ve been absolutely thrilled with the results from this year’s updated course content – the progress our trainees are making is nothing short of outstanding. It’s incredibly rewarding to see them stepping confidently into the top tier of high-quality SMART repairs.

This week, I had the pleasure of working one-on-one with Eamon Walsh for the first part of our intensive 5-day Bumper & Paint Training Course, which also includes business development support and free van build planning guidance.

Eamon has a fascinating background – a seasoned sound engineer from Worcester he’s toured the world working on major West End productions and with legendary directors like Andrew Lloyd Webber. Now, he's shifting gears to a more balanced lifestyle, scaling back to just three days in his current profession and pursuing a long-held dream: starting his own SMART vehicle repair business.We're proud to be part of that journey, and I'm excited to welcome him back next month when he returns for the Alloy Wheel & Colour Change Course.

Where Are They Now?
From Trainee to Business Owner – Gary Howell’s Journey

Back in July 2017, Gary Howell came to me for training – (see pinned post up above 👆🏻) full of energy, determination, and big plans. Just two weeks later, he put those new skills to the test, repairing a friend’s damaged Toyota GT. The result? A beautiful job that sparked his confidence and kicked off his career.

Fast forward to 2025, and Gary is now the proud owner of Top Gunzs Body Shop in Harlow, Essex. He turned down a partnership offer to build something of his own – and it’s paid off. With a team of 5 and a steady flow of work, his shop is now known for quality, speed, and top-tier customer service.

I had the chance to visit him recently and was blown away. Cars were coming and going on his own transporter, his team was working with the latest tools and tech, and the atmosphere was buzzing with pride and professionalism.
It’s incredible to see how far Gary’s come – from student to successful business owner. Hats off to him!
I’m so proud to have been part of his journey 😃
