These cars look like they’ve been drawn onto your screen…

But they’re real.

🇬🇹 ( vee - dez ) 🇺🇸 took five iconic cars from the 80s and reimagined them with his unmistakable black-and-white aesthetic.

The “Flat Out” exhibit is now live at the Petersen Automotive Museum, featuring true classics such as the Porsche 944 and Ferrari 308 GTS.

But it’s not just the cars that make this exhibit stand out.

Vides’ signature “Reality to Idea” style strips each car back to bold outlines, shadows and exaggerated details, making these instantly recognisable machines look almost like sketches brought to life.

And the choice of cars makes the whole thing even more interesting. From the distinctive Citroën SM to the striking DeTomaso Longchamp, each car brings a completely different shape and character to the collection.

It’s a completely different perspective on automotive art to what we’re used to seeing — taking cars that were already designed to turn heads and transforming them into something that looks like it belongs on the page of a comic book.

Seeing legendary cars like these reimagined in such a simple, graphic style really makes you look at their design differently.

Now Available: Jet Inspection Cover Kit — Raised for Float Bowl Vent

Did you know that certain Weber DCOE models have a different float bowl ventilation system from the usual versions.

Over the years, some cars were fitted with Weber 40 DCOE carburettors that differed slightly from the standard versions. The float bowl vent was not incorporated into the outer casing of these carburettors. Instead, the float bowl was vented through a special castellated spacer fitted underneath the jet inspection cover.

Examples of cars fitted with these special DCOEs include vehicles equipped with the renowned Holbay 1725 engine, such as the Sunbeam Rapier H120 (Weber 40 DCOE 34-35) and the Hillman Hunter GLS. These can also be found on the Talbot Sunbeam using twin Weber 40 DCOE 126 carburettors.

You never know what you’ll find while doing the weekly shop… 👀 And we weren’t expecting to come across these two!

Nearly three decades apart, but both instantly recognisable icons of American motoring. From the simplicity of the 30s Model A to the chrome, curves and fins of the ‘59 Bel Air, these two really show how quickly American car design changed.

Back to the future? Back to the classics. ⚡️
Some icons never go out of style.
The DeLorean DMC-12 is more than a movie car — it’s a genuine piece of automotive history. With its unmistakable stainless-steel body, gullwing doors and futuristic styling, it looked like it belonged in the future long before Doc Brown got his hands on it.
And yes… this is the original screen-used DeLorean. 👀
It is the only one of the three main time machines to appear throughout all three “Back to the Future” films.
From Back to the Future to becoming one of the most recognisable classics of the 1980s, the DMC-12 has earned its place in automotive history.

1932 Ford Roadster “0032”
One of the great modern interpretations of the legendary ’32 Ford, and a true piece of American hot-rodding history.
Designed by Chip Foose, the car began life as Boydster II, winning America’s Most Beautiful Roadster (AMBR) in 1996.
After collector Chuck Svatos commissioned Foose to restyle it, the roadster emerged in this stunning black guise, with redesigned fenders, new wheels, a distressed leather interior and removable top.
Renamed 0032, it went on to win the prestigious AMBR title again in 2000.
Powered by a 5.7-litre LT-1 V8 producing around 370 hp, its flowing fenders and deep black finish make it one of the most recognisable hot-rod designs of its era.
A hot rod elevated to an art form.

A little bit of British performance in Quebec 🇬🇧🇨🇦

A Lotus Seven in a country famous for its winters — proving that even lightweight British sports cars can travel well beyond the forecast.

This Seven has been carefully tailored, from carburation and engine setup to suspension.

Built around a Toyota 3TC engine, it runs one of our Weber 40 DCOE carburettors, re-calibrated specifically for our customer’s engine and application, along with our GAZ Shocks front and rear — all shipped from our UK base to Quebec, Canada.

And making a rather nice appearance in the background? Our customer’s bright yellow Lotus Elise — a perfect reminder of how the Lotus philosophy has evolved. Two generations apart, but both built around the same idea: lightweight performance with plenty of character.
