Thinking of swapping your driving test? Read this first.
A test swap means you and another learner exchange your booked tests: their date, time and test centre for yours.
Why swap? It works both ways. If you’re not quite ready, swap to a later date and prepare a little more. It’s always better than rushing your test. If you’re ready but your test is months away, you could swap with someone who needs more time and bring yours forward.
Only the learner can swap. Your instructor can’t do it for you.
You can swap if:
✔️ You both have at least 1 of your 2 changes left (the swap uses one)
✔️ You call at least 10 full working days before the earlier test (Mon–Sat count)
✔️ The other test is at your centre, one of its 3 nearest, or the centre you first booked
✔️ You both have the same test type (weekday ↔ weekday, evening/weekend ↔ evening/weekend)
📞 Agree a day with the other learner. One of you calls DVSA on 0300 200 1122 (option 2), Mon–Fri 8am–5pm, to request the swap. The other calls the same working day to confirm. If you don’t both call that day, the swap won’t happen.
⚠️ Only share your booking reference number with the other learner. Never your licence number, address, phone, email or card details.
At Sang Driving School, I help my learners find swap partners among each other, free of charge. It’s for my learners only, both of you have to agree, and you still make the calls to DVSA yourselves.
Test centres I cover: Erith, Belvedere and Sidcup. For any other centre, please confirm with me first.
💾 Save this for later and share it with a learner who needs it.
