DON’T FORGET TO CHECK THE INSIDE OF YOUR TYRES! ⚠️

When checking your tyres, it’s easy to look at the outside and assume everything is fine… but what about the inside?

❗️The inner edge of your tyre can wear down badly without you even realising it, simply because it’s out of sight!

As these photos show, tyre damage and excessive wear can be hidden on the inside of the tyre, even when the outside looks okay. It’s lucky this tyre didn’t explode on the road.

✅ Turn your steering wheel fully to one side to help you see the inside edge of your front tyres. Remember to check both sides, too!
Remember to check your tyre pressures - even if your vehicle has a tyre sensor that alerts on the dash.

🔎 Look out for:
• Uneven or excessive wear
• Cracks, splits or bulges
• Exposed cords or damaged rubber

⚠️ If you spot serious damage or exposed cords, don’t continue driving on the tyre — get professional advice immediately.

🚔🚨 You can get 3 points PER TYRE on your driving licence under offence code CU30 - using a vehicle with defective tyres.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ Do you carry out short journeys from A to B in your Diesel vehicle?
This is a problem we see over and over on Diesel vehicles.

❌ A job we carried out last week - Blocked up DPF and Turbo.

How a Blocked DPF Destroys Your Turbo?
A blocked Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) can take the turbo down with it.
They are directly connected in your exhaust system, and when one suffers, the other dies.
Here is the quick breakdown of what can happen:

1. The DPF Chokes Up
The DPF’s job is to trap soot. To clean itself, it needs long, hot motorway drives to burn that soot away. If your vehicle only does short, stop-and-start city trips, the self-cleaning cycle never happens. Soot piles up, and the filter blocks.

2. Exhaust Pressure Backs Up
With the DPF blocked, exhaust gases have nowhere to go. Massive pressure and extreme heat (up to 700°C!) build up right behind the turbocharger.

3. The Turbo Gets Cooked
That intense back-pressure forces hot gases and soot straight past the turbo's internal oil seals. It cooks the oil inside the turbo, starving the bearings of lubrication. Within a short time, the turbo bearings seize up or the turbine wheel snaps (like in the photo below).

💡 THE GOLDEN RULE:
If a diesel van or car doesn't regularly get driven on long journeys, a petrol vehicle is almost always the better, cheaper option.

One of yesterday's jobs: Replacing the gear cables on a Kia Rio.

Simple enough job?.. Wrong😆

To get to what should be a relatively straightforward repair, this involved removing the whole dashboard out from the car.

Just another example of a manufacturer making a simple job as long-winded as possible 🔧⏰
