We were driving along the road when a learner driver in a Red driving school car swerved in to our stream of traffic and hit our car, taking off the wing mirror, the RED driving school car drove off, we had to turn our car around and try to find them, we went all around the streets and we were about to give up when we saw them coming back in the opposite direction, we flashed our lights at them and this time they stopped, the driving instructor Guy Martin admitted it was fully his pupils mistake, (luckily we had an independent witness who had been tailing us while we were looking for the car, who also said she saw the whole thing and could not believe the learner just seemed to swerve in to our car)
My husband who was a mechanic checked for damage, we had lost the wing mirror, and the only damage to the learner car was a small scratch on the bonnet.
My husband discussed with our insurance and decided we would buy the new wing mirror, espray it and fit it ourselves to kero the cist down for the driving instructor, and we would just claim for the cost of the mirror.
We heard nothing for 10 months, then we received a letter from a collection agency, demanding £1661.75 for... A SERVICE, 4NEW TYRES, 4Alloy wheel refurbs, telephone calls, legal action,
This is obviously an attempt at fraud, 1) it was their fault. 2) how can him knocking our wing mirror result in him needing 4 new tyres and 4alloy referbs.
When we contacted RED Driving school about this driving instructors behaviour, they responded it is nothing to do with them and we need to sort it out with our insurance. When we said we were not happy with that response they messaged back their stock answer that our issue had been resolved and we had been informed of the outcome. This company refuses to deal with complaints or people's issues. They ignore any wrong doing by the Instructors and I feel they can not fully investigate the people who they allow to opperate under their name, they are a disgusting company.
