During a recent vehicle inspection at Edward Street Garage, our technician carried out a brake fluid moisture test.

As you can see from the photograph, the tester is showing a moisture reading of approximately 2.5%, indicating that the brake fluid is beginning to deteriorate.

This vehicle arrived at Edward Street Garage as a non-runner, with the engine refusing to start.

Our technician got straight to work investigating the cause of the problem.

As you can see in the video, after removing the rocker cover and inspecting the engine's timing components, our technician discovered excessive play in the timing chain.

⚠️ Why is this a concern?

The timing chain plays a crucial role in keeping the engine's internal components correctly synchronised.

Excessive play can indicate a problem with the timing chain system and, if the engine timing becomes incorrect, can potentially result in serious internal engine damage.

This is exactly why proper diagnostics are so important!

We've got a Range Rover Evoque undergoing some extensive engine repairs here at Edward Street Garage, and what our technician has uncovered during the strip-down is certainly worth seeing!

In this video, our technician takes you through the engine step by step, showing exactly what he's found and explaining why certain repairs are necessary.
