🔧 Ford Focus 1.0 Automatic EcoBoost – Wet Belt Replacement

Another Ford Focus 1.0 EcoBoost in with us for a full wet belt replacement — but the automatic versions are a little different.

These engines are fitted with a balance shaft, which means they use an oil pump belt tensioner. This tensioner is known to fail, so when we carry out the wet belt replacement, we replace the oil pump belt tensioner as part of the job. 👌

It's these little differences that matter when working on the various versions of the 1.0 EcoBoost.

🔧 Something a little different in the workshop today!

A Renault Scenic in for a timing belt and water pump replacement.

We were actually trying to remember the last time we did one of these — it must be 15+ years ago! 😮

Back then, these were a regular job in the workshop. Funny how things change… now we're surrounded by wet belts every day! 😂

Nice to go back to an old-school timing belt and water pump for a change. 👌

🔧 Ford Transit 2.0 EcoBlue – Oil Leak Diagnosis

This Transit came to us with an oil leak following a wet belt replacement carried out by another specialist.

After several attempts to rectify the issue elsewhere, the customer had given up and brought the van to us to get to the bottom of it.

💨 We used our smoke machine to pressure-test the engine and quickly located the source of the leak.

🔍 The problem: poor sealant application on the front cover, allowing oil to escape.

Now correctly diagnosed and ready to be properly rectified. ✅

🔧 Citroën 1.2 PSA – Wet Belt Replacement 🔧

This Citroën 1.2 PSA came to us following advice from the AA, after the oil pressure warning light came on.

On inspection, we found the wet belt had started to delaminate, with belt material restricting the oil pickup and causing the oil pressure issue. ⚠️

Luckily, it was caught before it turned into a much more expensive engine failure.

🔧 2.0 EcoBlue RWD Transit – Head Gasket Replacement 🔧

Another job completed for a local garage who brought this RWD Transit to us with poor starting.

After carrying out diagnostics and a compression test, we found low compression on cylinders 1 & 2.

Further investigation confirmed a head gasket failure. The cylinder head was removed, the necessary repairs carried out, and the engine rebuilt and refitted. ✅

Now back together, starting as it should and ready to return to the local garage.

🔧 2 Citroëns – 2 Delaminated Wet Belts! 🔧

We’ve had two Citroëns fitted with the 1.2 PSA PureTech engine in today for wet belt replacements — and both belts were badly delaminated. 😳

Pieces of belt debris were already restricting the oil pickup, putting both engines at serious risk of oil starvation and major engine damage.

Luckily, both were caught before things got much worse. ✅
