Working in the workshops today quite happy when a double cab Transit pulls up with scrap on the back. A lad jumps out and comes into the workshop, not the office as he should, asks for scrap or catalytic convertors. I say quite politely we dont have any and in any case we have to document the removal of all waste. He disappears only to come back and say he has all the correct documentation. I advise him that I dont have the say as its a Ltd company and if he wants that confirmed go to the office, His answer?...
"You are a Prick".
Then ensues a few words in which said three amigos in Transit threaten to "Flatten me" "Take the reg of the vehicle if u like its not registered to me" "I will get out now and knock you out" "You are a f dead man" etc etc etc. All this caught on CCTV but will i report it?
No.
Why?
Because we are subject to this abuse every day of every week, we put up with it because for them there is no law, there is no code, they get what they want and cry racial prejudice when told to eventually f off.
Did it ruin my day? Well it didnt help and if it wasnt for Richard our other tyre fitter being there I am sure I would have been worse for wear tonight.
So Channel 4.....next time some Pikey gypsy says "Dont get me on film as it will harm me scrap business" you will know exactly why. How about running a series on the hard working single premises garage owner who puts up with this sort of abuse day in day out, perhaps the "Big Fat Gypsy Wedding" would carry a little less appeal to the general public in future.
