So today, Oli became 6/7….

6 passes this Summer from 7 tests, 5 of them were 1st times and 1, a 1st time pass with me…

Various test centres, various days and times and yet same results!!

Out in the time and effort and see what can be achieved.

So I have spaces for a few new pupils, I have had 5 enquires today, so thanks to those and to those that recommend me.

I don’t need to advertise anywhere, I work off ex pupils and friends and family recommending me.

To be fare, that’s a deep pool of people after 21yrs of being an instructor!!

Well done to both Meg and Luke…
Both passed 1st time with me and did very well…

So I have some spaces with it being 5/6 passes recently.

Well done to the latest 3 Pupils to pass…..

All 1st time passes, Ben with 1 fault, Lucasz with 3 faults and Jack with 2…..

All put the time and effort in, 2 at short notice and the other with lessons over the last 8 months.

All had different experiences and all over came challenges but that’s what happens when you put the work in and really want something!!

I may not be everyone’s cup of tea but I must be doing something right!!

21yrs in and let’s see what the rest of the year brings…..

21yrs of STREETWISE SOM today…..

So much has changed over that time…..

The test itself has undergone various changes, to many to list between the theory, practical and how and who can book tests….

Wait times for tests are still crazy, since Covid and the 3rd parties and apps making things worse…..

Not to mention Social Media introducing various instructors who are out to sell you something on their platforms and posting videos for likes and clicks…..

Each to their own I guess, I just think we should be Teaching 1st and foremost. Concentrate on the pupils and get on with the job in hand. Being a Driving Instructor!!

I still love my job but it’s being made harder as time goes by and I know know how others felt when I 1st started out… lol

Anyway, Congrates to these pupils who passed with me this year….

As many of you know I havnt been able to teach as much as I would like this year due to my now seemingly ongoing Hip problem….

I am teaching a Full time as I can be now and do have some available slots….

So with all the changes made by the DVSA about how to book and who can book your driving test.

Here is some info that I’ve seen about the risks you take using these apps or 3rd parties to try to get earlier tests…..

It’s not worth the risk personally.
But who am I to advise learners…..?! 🤷‍♂️

Please ONLY use the .gov website to book tests yourself and follow their guidance for changing the test if you need to.

After speaking to most of my pupils over the last few months, I have taken their ideas and feedback onboard and come up with this New Structure to hopefully give you a deal that works for you.

The rules for booking and managing car driving tests are changing.

If you've got a test booked, or you're planning to book one soon, here are the key dates you need to know:

✅ 31 March 2026 – only 2 changes can be made to a booking
✅ 12 May 2026 – only learners are allowed to book a test and make changes
✅ 9 June 2026 – learners can move their booked test only to nearby centres
