How would it make you feel if you noticed a car driving very close behind you? Would you feel a little concerned? Would you feel less worried if you knew there were some defensive strategies you could use? You do have some options. The most obvious might be just to pull over and let the following car pass. Another way to reduce the chances of a rear end accident, could be to increase the distance between your car and the car in front by gradually reducing your speed. This reduces the need to brake hard should the vehicle in front drop their speed significantly without warning, which in turn would reduce the chances of the following vehicle impacting the back of your vehicle. When learning to drive, becoming a safe driver for life should be the ultimate outcome and not just a pass on your practical test.
