I really should post more on here but I'm rather proud right now. In the last four driving tests my pupils have taken a total of 2 minor errors. Yep, three zero fault tests and one with 2 minors. That's a personal record that is!

Turns out it's been a while since I last posted but I saw this and couldn't help myself. The situation is awful and embarrassing for all involved and trying to find a funny side is all we have left.

I'm thinking of starting a series of posts concerning the UK roads, signs, priorities etc. Being based in and around Colchester we have some fairly challenging road junctions and I'm amazed at how few people actually know what to do in many circumstances. I feel like I should be able to help.
Is that something you or someone you know might be interested in?

What a day yesterday was. 2 test passes, both of whom worked hard to reach the required standard. A massive well done to both Emily and Jack.
I also had a pupil mess me about so much that I've had to terminate any further tuition with her. This doesn't happen very often at all and when being in contact with her about the issues, her response was "lol, idc"(for those of you who don't know what that means it's Laugh Out Loud, I Don't Care). Some people seem to think the world revolves around them, I'm sure she will soon come to realise it very much does not.
The story surrounding this termination is long and boring and suffice to say I'll not be mentioning names.
Oh well, onwards and upwards!

First test being "back to normal" today and it was a mighty fine 2 minor pass. No masks needed, no waiting outside, no having to remember a pen, no early finishing due to serious fault, no cones in the car park, we're also allowed back in the car on test and I could get a coffee whilst my pupil was out. A tentative return to normality.

If you've not heard, there are changes happening to the highway Code in the UK today. It's our own responsibility to be aware of any changes so here is a link to the government site to explain the most important changes.
Please take a look and if you have any questions I'll try my best to help you understand what's changing.

Rules for all types of road users have been updated in The Highway Code to improve the safety of people walking, cycling and riding horses.

Just so you know, Colchester theory test center is changing address. Not sure when the move happens as the DVSA didn't seem to want to tell me that. The new address is on the University grounds.

Who books a test at 8.10am on a Monday?
Sam Dungey is one who does, dragged me out of bed at 5am to get him to his test in Ipswich at 8.10am. I'd be a bit miffed had he not passed it with ZERO FAULTS!!

Back to work in the morning.
I'd better wash my hair, shine my shoes and iron a shirt, it feels like the start of a new term!

As I'm sure you have seen, Colchester and Tendring go in to tier 4 as of Boxing Day.
Tier 4 means many things to many people. For me, and other driving instructors, it means a closure of test centers and a stop to driving tests and lessons. It's not the news many wanted but it's the right thing to do. I will be in touch with all of my pupils to rearrange things over the next week or so but I'll let Christmas pass before starting the calls.
