New partnership to help make roads safer!

TyreSafe is pleased to announce a new partnership with Donna Jones, Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, to strengthen road safety and tackle the risks posed by illegal and poorly maintained tyres.

Between October 2024 and September 2025, 1,286 people were killed or seriously injured on roads across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

This partnership will explore ways to raise awareness, encourage regular tyre checks and support wider road safety efforts through education, prevention and enforcement.

Tyre safety matters. Checking your tyres regularly can help you identify potential problems before they put you and other road users at risk.

Together, we’re supporting TyreSafe’s Vision Zero ambition to eliminate harm caused by illegal and poorly maintained tyres.

What do you think is the biggest cause of near misses on UK roads?

According to TyreSafe's latest research, 46% of drivers who experienced a near miss said it happened because another road user pulled out unexpectedly or braked suddenly.

You can't control someone else's actions, but you can make sure your tyres are in the best possible condition to respond when every second counts. Illegal or poorly maintained tyres can increase stopping distances, reducing your ability to avoid a collision when someone brakes unexpectedly.

So give the tyres carrying everyone from A to B some regular attention too. Check them at least once a month and before long journeys, including pressure, tread and overall condition.
