New tyre safety resources for taxi and private hire drivers.
Recent enforcement cases have highlighted a concerning road safety issue, with licensed vehicles found operating with illegal and dangerously worn tyres – including tyres with exposed reinforcing cords and tyres worn almost completely smooth.
TyreSafe has launched a new suite of free taxi and private hire vehicle tyre safety resources to help professional drivers, operators, fleet managers and licensing authorities reduce risk and keep vehicles safe and legal.
The resources cover:
• Air Pressure, Condition and Tread (ACT) checks
• Daily tyre inspections
• Legal tread depth requirements
• Cuts, bulges, exposed cords and other damage
• Correct tyre pressures
• When to replace a tyre
• Safe purchasing advice, including part-worn tyres
Taxi and private hire vehicles can cover many thousands of miles each year, making regular tyre inspections particularly important.
TyreSafe is also partnering with Liverpool City Council Licensing to put practical tyre safety guidance directly into the hands of licensed drivers through printed easy reference guides and educational posters.
If you're a taxi or private hire driver, operator, licensing authority or fleet manager, download the free resources and help make every journey safer.
