🚨 WET BELT WARNING! 🚨

This week our technician Harry — our very own “Cam Belt King” 👑🔧 — took on this 2020 Vauxhall Grandland for a wet belt replacement.

Harry has carried out many PSA wet belt replacements before, so this was a job he knows very well. But as always, a thorough inspection is key — and this one had an important discovery!

During the inspection, we found the engine oil strainer was blocked, which can restrict oil flow and potentially lead to serious engine problems if left unchecked.

Harry carried out a full wet timing belt replacement using a genuine timing belt kit, addressed the blocked oil strainer and checked the engine’s oil system. ✅

🛠️ Wet belt replaced
🛠️ Engine oil system checked

This is a great example of why wet belt replacement is about more than simply changing the belt. Using the correct manufacturer-specified engine oil when these engines are serviced is also extremely important and beneficial to the health and longevity of the wet belt and engine.

Regular servicing with the correct specification oil, along with replacing the wet belt at the recommended interval, can help reduce the risk of costly engine problems further down the line.

If your Vauxhall or PSA vehicle is approaching its recommended wet belt interval, or you’re unsure when it was last replaced, don’t wait for a failure — get it checked.

At Simply Serviced,l the team always carry out servicing thoroughly.
During a routine service on this Ford Ranger, we found a noticeable amount of carbon deposits in the engine oil.

Carbon contamination in the oil can be a sign that the engine isn’t operating as cleanly as it should, and if left unchecked, it can contribute to increased wear and potential engine issues further down the line.

Regular servicing and oil changes are essential for keeping your engine clean, protected and running smoothly. 👌

We’ll always inspect the condition of the oil and components during a service and keep you informed if we spot anything that needs attention.

Using the smoke machine to test the lines and the suspension bags, we found the rear valve block to be at fault! 💪

Simply sorted and the car is springing back into action!
