Just to give everyone a heads up
An update on Ipswich Road;
Dear Councillor,
Advance notice: Closure’s – Ipswich Rd, Colchester & Harwich Road, Colchester
We promised to keep you informed of the next phase of work on the Ipswich Rd and Harwich Rd in Colchester. As you will know this is a vital scheme to improve traffic flows for the immediate and long term future of the town. Therefore, I wish to advise you that preparations are being made to close Ipswich Road, Colchester and Harwich Road, Colchester. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while water and gas main diversion works are undertaken by Anglian Water and Cadent Gas on behalf of Essex County Council.
The current proposed location and dates for the closures are detailed below:
* Ipswich Road, Colchester on the northbound carriageway only between Fenwick Drive and the Ipswich Road Roundabout, a distance of approximately 70m.
18 February 2019 – 11 March 2019
* Ipswich Road, Colchester on both sides of the carriageway between Fenwick Drive and the Ipswich Road Roundabout, a distance of approximately 70m.
11 March 2019 –15 March 2019
* Harwich Road, Colchester on both sides of the carriageway from the Junction of Greenstead Road in a north easterly direction for a distance of approximately 190m to its junction with the Harwich Road roundabouts.
1 April 2019 – 22 April 2019
The works will be carried out during the working hours of 07.00 – 20.00 however due to safety reasons the traffic management is required at all times. Some of the works being undertaken will require the use of noisy equipment and may cause some disturbance, however we will try and complete these activities when they will cause the least inconvenience to you.
Full access will be maintained for local resident’s, pedestrians and cyclists. A suitable signed diversion route will be provided for all other network users who wish to reach a destination beyond the location of the abovementioned closures.
Bus operators have been informed of the closures so that any necessary adjustments can be made to their services. Notices will be displayed on the affected bus stops and suitable temporary alternatives will be provided.
Please note that programmed dates may be subject to change, however the latest information will be displayed on advance warning signs on site.
