Following on from previous:

Firstly I must express my heartfelt appreciation again to all of you that have shown your fantastic support to me and my team at Bardon Truck Park

This morning, I met with Cllr Keith Merrie in a productive face to face meeting which lasted for some time (over a couple of cups of tea at least). He now for certain understands our point of view regarding the closure of this site and the detrimental impact this has on our industry as a whole.

He is now working with us - so between my team, his team, and national bodies we are all currently liaising for a solution to the problem. And I hope to have some further good news as quick as possible.

Nevertheless, I hope to see you before the 6th March as it stands right now! So please do pop in to see us even if your just passing or coming in for secure parking.

On another important note. I’m aware that there were suggestions of blocking certain roads & carparks off during our last day of closure in protest or in frustration. And also as mentioned in previous comments, I’m aware that there has been a small number of people making various threats. Please can we keep things professional and refrain from doing so. However, constructive and positive feedback is certainly welcomed.

Again thanks for the support 🚛💨

Wow wow wow THANK YOU all so much for your support so far, I will forever be grateful! I think it’s fair to say that we have taken over the internet this week!

My team have been absolutely blown away by the sheer number of people backing us here at Bardon Truck Park!! I know that when the trucking industry come together on times such as this then it is just magical ❤️ Genuinely we are so grateful for your help in standing up to these bullies! Thanks again.

🟢🟢IF YOU CAN, PLEASE COME AND HAVE FREE PARKING AND A DRINK ON OUR LAST DAY, YOU WILL BE MOST WELCOME AS ALWAYS (subject to availability of course just give us a call on the day) - 5TH MARCH🟢🟢

I am now aware of this video (which has since been deleted) that a local parish councillor had made outside our yard the other day - Ironically this is the closest he has ever been to the truckstop - I certainly know that he hasn’t once come to visit me that’s for sure! (You know, at our thriving local business which started up within his parish afew years ago when truckers were classed as Hero’s!). I’d of welcomed the opportunity for a discussion & site visit from him to put our point across rather than 1 sided debate. Maybe with his passion we could find alternatives?

Back then, 5 years ago, planning permission was granted after an application had been made for temporary permission. Note: No objections was lodged throughout this process. Yes we did change the entrance to what was originally asked for and subsequently over the time that had to be changed again. I have had many hurdles to overcome getting things right but all things that could be fixed/changed, and my planning & legal team have complied with anything required along the process. My rights to appeal stages etc allowed for us to carry on operating further until decisions had been made. To brand us illegal makes us sound like criminals! As business flourished we accommodated more truckers and with our teams great onsite management it has all worked well with providing our service to you.
Over 2 weeks I attended every single day at that public inquiry and this chap in this video never turned up even once.

I class any roadway or carpark anywhere to have some element of risk regardless of any vehicle type. The element of risk could be reduced by the implementation of crossing points, signage etc further into the carpark that I had suggested to our neighbouring Charnwood Arms which were all denied.

Ask yourself, if someone posted a video like this outside of your ‘home’ without speaking to you direct first for solutions then how would you feel?

We are supporting the trucking industry, and they are evidently supporting us 💪🏻 so thank you all one more.

Please tell the non-truckers in our comments below just how much we are NEEDED!

Dear truckers,

I’m so very sorry to report to you that we have been ordered to close our popular & thriving truckstop here in busy NW Leicestershire.

All vehicles must be off site on the 6th March 2025.

This follows a disagreement with our neighbours Greene King that owns the pub nextdoor to us (2 years after already operating) which resulted in us going to public inquiry, which has resulted in us losing an appeal.

Another valuable truckstop of our Great Britain has to close because of a large conglomerate and ‘anti truckers’ that have won yet again.

Our site has always had a ‘Rights of Way Access’ from highway through the carpark roadway onto our site. Now rather than quote what the deeds say here I have attached them below and you can clearly see what is stated on them.

I must stress to you that not 1 single accident nor incident has occurred with vehicle to vehicle or vehicle to pedestrian within the carpark roadway relating to our truckpark within the 5th year of our busy 24 hour 7 days a week operation - not a single 1.
But it’s now being classed as ‘unsafe’.

I must also stress that Planning Permission had already previously been granted via the correct process which was ok then.

I did suggest (at my expense) that I would implement zebra crossing, additional signage, more staff within the entrance area etc to alleviate any concerns, But this had all been denied / turned down by Greene King pub who own the bit it would need to be placed upon. Even though this would benefit their customers also.

I note that there has been wear on the roadway in, and we had been maintaining it regularly, until we was told to stop doing it by legal teams. Since this was now out of our hands we couldn’t do anything about it - so damned if you do & damned if you don’t.

5th year of day to day graft has gone into building the site as it is today - if you have used our facility before then you will clearly see all the time & effort our team put into the place. And anyone delivering to this area or just passing through will see just how much our area needs our truckstop.
I’ve got new drivers lounge, additional toilet & showers, upgraded security kit and other things all on order - but now it will go to waste.

Thank you for your custom and I hope that we have served you well up until this point.
We have thoroughly enjoyed working with you all!!

****PLEASE can you comment below with your support for our business trying to support the haulage industry!****

Hope to see you one last time before the 6th March 2024 (unless something happens before?).

Brett
