Well as 2020 comes to an end we at Sidlesham Garage Ltd would like to wish everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
We are open during 4th Tier COVID lockdown to continue MOT testing and repairing your cars and will continue to use all that we can to prevent cross infection by wrapping steering wheels and using anti-bac wipes.
Thank you to all our customers old and new, stay safe people the light has been turned back on at the end of the tunnel.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, drivers were granted a 6-month exemption from MOT testing in March to help slow the spread of the virus. However, as restrictions are eased when safe to do so, all drivers whose car, motorcycle or van is due for an MOT test from 1 August will be required to get a test certificate to continue driving their vehicle.

Drivers with an MOT due date before 1 August will still receive a 6-month exemption from testing. However, all vehicles must continue to be properly maintained and kept in a roadworthy condition, and people are able to voluntarily get their MOT sooner should they wish, even if they are exempt from the legal requirement. Motorists can be prosecuted for driving an unsafe vehicle.

Roads Minister Baroness Vere also said:

“As people return to our roads, it is vital that motorists are able to keep their vehicles safe. That’s why as restrictions are eased, from 1 August MOT testing will again become mandatory.

Morning fellow motorists
Yesterday we at Sidlesham Garage Ltd MOT’d a car that could have received a government 6 month extension which would have taken us to late October .This car had a front tyre worn through to the cords. Between now and October its almost a certainty that this tyre would have failed.
If you decide to accept the mot extension. Please look at last years mot and check what advisories where present and please carry out a basic safety check of tyres as a minimum.
Luckily this car owner opted for an MOT regardless of the government’s scheme.
If you can get your car MOT’d I recommend you do.
We offer a free collection service and will apply anti Covid-19 protection of steering wheel handbrake and gear-lever wrapping as well as Anti Bac wipes.
