⚓️Thank you to our lovely canal residents and marina operative, Alfie, for assisting with the swan rescue at the weekend when two swan families were involved in a territorial fight.
The swans are now receiving care at a wildlife sanctuary, and we hope they all make a full recovery. We are grateful to everyone who helped ensure their safety and wellbeing. 🦢❤️

⚓️ A sad day for Team Chichester as we say goodbye to Ade Leggatt on his retirement after an incredible 44 years at Chichester Marina. ⛵️

Ade has been at the core of the Marina since 1982. That’s not just a career—it’s a lifetime of early mornings, late finishes, frozen fingers, sunburnt calves, and more wind and rain than most people would ever tolerate.

He’s always been the person you can rely on. He knows how everything works, can recall the underwater profile of every boat he’s ever lifted and no matter the problem, he gets on with the job—usually accompanied by a few well chosen words along the way.

Of course, we’ve all shared plenty of laughs and heard years of great stories. And then there’s the bribery. Because let’s be honest—if you ever needed to persuade Ade to do something, the only real currency was victoria sponge or lemon drizzle cake!

We truly appreciate the skill, effort, and hard work Ade has poured into this marina over the years. He’s one of those people you just assume will always be here—part of the furniture—which is why today feels a little strange.
This retirement is absolutely deserved, but it leaves a very big gap—one that won’t be filled overnight.

After 44 years of dedication, countless jobs and dealing with his fair share of challenges we say goodbye.
Ade- you will be truly missed. Not just for everything you’ve done, but for the legend you are .
