The Ford 2.0 EcoBlue diesel engine uses a wet timing belt that runs inside the engine oil. Over time, this belt can deteriorate due to oil contamination, fuel dilution, and general wear. As the belt breaks down, rubber particles can enter the oil system and restrict oil flow, which may lead to low oil pressure, reduced performance, or in severe cases, major engine damage.

This week we were tasked with diagonosing and repairing a Skoda Octavia which was blowing exhaust gasses into the intake. After checking the timing and finding it to be good we proceeded with tearing down the top end to inspect the camshafts which we expected to be the root cause due to these being a common failure point, what we found was a surprise, the rocker arm has fractured and thus the camshaft was no longer opening the exhaust valve. An inspection of the affected cylinder revealed no contact had been made between the valves and piston and we prcoeeded in rectifying the issue. A set of rocker arms later along with new timing belt and water pump the car was back up and running great ready to tick off some more miles. In and out in just over a day meant a very satisfied customer.

Another Mercedes in with us with the pesky Ad blue fault. After extensive diagnosis to ensure the source of the problem we identified incorrect readings from the NOX sensors. After testing all the other components of the Ad blue system we were left with two faulty NOX which were replaced with genuine units.
After the replacement of the NOX sensors were back to normal however the dreaded Adblue countdown remained. We followed up with a software update using Mercedes Dealer level software.
Ad blue faults now all gone and the vehicle is ready to eat up some more motorway miles 🚗🚗

Another week another transit 2.0 ecoblue wetbelt replacement. This time the customer opted for the full package which included removal of the sump, replacement of the oil pump belt, and cleaning of the sump and oil pick up along with a full service at the same time.

Jaguar XKR with us to repair a suspected seized caliper fault upon disassembly we found the wheel bearing to have disintegrated causing the hub to have a lot of play and allowing the disc to make contact with the caliper carrier causing damage to both the carrier and the disc. The hub carrier was beyond saving. New hub carrier, caliper carrier, abs sensor and brake discs, shoes and pads sourced and ready to go on the vehicle.
Some other little job remaining to get this roaring V8 back on the road with the top down and enjoying what little good weather we have this year.

2.2 Transit van in with us for engine reconditioning. The car had a recurring fault where it was killing the turbos and needed them replacing several times during the last year. We believe that we have found the root cause of the problem and hope to have the van back on the road in no time to continue the work its designed for.

Another 1.0 eco boost engine bites the dust. This car came to us with the oil light on, upon removal of the sump to inspect the oil pick up we found the usual belt debris as well as some rather large metal chunks.
Further investigation will be required!
