Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Restoration is complete!

This 190 SL arrived at Prestige Restoration from the United States in an incomplete state. Having assessed the work that had previously been carried out, it became clear that a number of repairs fell short of the standards required. We therefore took the decision to start again, carefully dismantling and rectifying the car before undertaking a full and exacting restoration from the ground up.

Finished in DB172 Anthracite Grey Metallic over Red Hide, the car has been restored to an exceptionally high standard, including the correct factory colour treatment to the underside — ensuring that attention to detail extends well beyond what is immediately visible.

Now complete, this beautiful 190 SL is ready to leave the workshop and begin its next chapter, to be driven and enjoyed by its lucky owner throughout the summer and for many years to come.

1970 Triumph 2000 MK2 Restoration is complete.

Just another restoration? Not quite.�We’ve been on a bit of a British Leyland streak lately, and this Triumph is something truly special.
This project began 12 months ago and became a full nut-and-bolt rebuild: extensive metalwork with very few panels available off the shelf, gearbox and overdrive rebuilt by our friends at , complete engine overhaul, propshaft and differential refresh, all-new running gear, suspension, brakes, stainless exhaust, and a full interior retrim (retaining those original seats). Finished off with new carpets, headlining, wheels and tyres.
Resprayed in its original Valencia Blue with a colour-matched underside in tinted Raptor stone chip — every detail restored, refined, and completed entirely in-house. A rarity in the UK classic restoration scene today.

Friday afternoon test driving on two pretty extraordinary ‘Prestige’ Restoration’s. Much more to show you on these amazing cars as they’re ready to head home.

1958 Maserati 3500 GT finished in its original shade of Chiaro Verde. Thousands of hours of painstaking work this restoration is finally complete.

Jaguar EType finished in its very British shade of Willow Green (as per factory) and converted from LHD to RHD. Bought as a (small) box of bits on eBay some years ago and now back as it should be.

We’ll miss these green girls in the workshops. They’re like our lucky charms 🍀

1961 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL — Restoration Complete

This 1961 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL arrived at Prestige Restoration from the United States in an incomplete state, having already undergone a degree of restoration. We were entrusted with bringing the car to completion, carrying out a full and exacting restoration with careful attention to originality, detail and finish.

Finished in its stunning factory colour combination of DB172 Anthracite Grey Metallic over Red Hide, the car also features the correct factory colour treatment to the underside, ensuring that no detail was overlooked.

Now complete, this beautiful 190 SL is ready to leave the workshop and begin its next chapter — to be driven, enjoyed and appreciated by its lucky owner throughout the summer and for many years to come.

The ex-Earls Court Motor Show 1962 Facel Vega II Coupé⁣

After 18 months of meticulous restoration, this beauty is now ready to return to its owner.⁣
⁣
Originally sold at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed Bonhams auction, this Facel Vega had been tucked away in a London garage since the 1990s. The first drive after a 35-year hiatus was nothing short of incredible.⁣

This car has a fascinating history, once owned by one of Britain’s top television producers/directors, responsible for iconic shows like World in Action, Disappearing World, Coronation Street, and Bergerac throughout the 60s, 70s, and 80s.⁣

A lifelong Facel II enthusiast, he first fell in love with the model in his youth, often spotting a silver example parked outside the Écurie Écosse Garage in Edinburgh. In 1971, while finishing Disappearing World, he had a chance encounter with a blue Facel II on Beauchamp Place, Knightsbridge. After a conversation with the chauffeur, the car’s owner, Mrs. Kleeman, asked if he’d like to buy it. Her words? “Would you like it?” And just like that, the car became his.⁣
⁣
A true piece of history, it’s seen passengers such as psychiatrist R.D. Laing, singer Johnny Cash, politician Benazir Bhutto, jazz legends Earl ‘Fatha’ Hines and Jay McShann, and countless famous faces from Granada Television.⁣
